Review: Dark Needs (The Dark Light of Day, #1.5) by T.M. Frazier

Before reading this book you need to have read Book 1- The Dark Light of Day which is an amazing book!
Buy here ---> Amazon UK | Amazon US

Synopsis
"A revenge kill is the best kind of kill.
But a revenge kill for your family, with your woman's permission?
That's borderline erotic."- Jake, The Dark Light of Day.

Jake has come back home to Abby after violently disposing of the man who almost destroyed his family. With blood literally still on his hands, the only thing on Jake's mind is making up for lost time with the woman he loves.

Dark Needs is a companion novella to The Dark Light of Day and won't make much sense unless you are already familiar with Abby and Jake's story in The Dark Light of Day..

Did I mention that there is a preview for KING at the end?

My Review
5 Bloody Brilliant Stars!

This is a novella which carries on from book 1 called The Dark Light of Day. You need to read that book before you start this one or you will just be confused and we wouldn't want that now, would we? ;)

"Only me?"

"Only you. It's only ever been you."

First of all T.M.Frazier, I love ya and your writing. I loved TDLOD and the way it was written, it made me feel so many emotion. And I'm sure some of these emotions weren't normal. The anger oh my god.The ANGER I felt in book one was extreme. This novella did not disappoint. I got stuck in and kept looking at the percentage on my kindle app and thinking oh damn I'm reading too fast! Why aren't there more pages? There needs to be more pages!

'It was easy to live with a theory, something that almost wasn't real because it wasn't something she had to deal with.It was entirely different to come face to face with the truth of it all.'

I had missed Abby and Jake, loved both these characters and their raw, dark passionate love for one another.I adored the parts with Jake and Georgia! They were just soo cute. This novella was mainly in Jake's pov which was different and interesting.

Now I just keep wanting to repeat that I really really need more!
The ending was such a pleasant surprise.
I need KING!
And this author has made it to my list of authors that I will automatically one-click their books without even reading the synopsis..actually she made it on the list after I read her first book hah! I will be saving up to buy both books in paperback, who doesn't like stroking the spine of their fav books ;)

Release Blitz/Excerpt :Run to You (Run #1) by Kandice Michelle Young

Synopsis

I moved to New York for a fresh start. I did not move here to fall for a man like Sebastian.

Sebastian Black came into my life like a storm in the peak of the night…dark, raging, all-consuming, and guaranteed to leave destruction in his wake. From the moment our eyes met, he had a hold on me. I wanted, craved, and needed him like nothing I had ever desired before.

The problem was he needed total submission. From the moment he handed me the contract, I knew what he was proposing would destroy me. What I had not planned was his ability to make me crave destruction. I would lose myself in him. Sebastian knew how to take me over the edge, and before I even knew it, I wanted to go free-falling.

It was evident that my past had the ability to destroy us. What I had not calculated was the power of his to do the same. My dark, brooding, impeccably sexual, alpha-male had his own crosses to bear. I was not sure I was strong enough to handle them, or the woman who helped chain him there.

“You were special ordered by Black himself.” He takes my elbow and guides me into the room.

My heart is racing with anticipation. This is it, my moment of truth. I walk on shaky legs as I try to keep up with his pace. In just minutes, I will be face-to-face with Sebastian for the first time since our short-lived intimate encounter a week ago. A crowd by the bar lets out a loud cheer and I glance over to see the bartender balancing a shaker on his head and juggling three more around him, catching liquids from each one, and mixing them into the contents of the other.

We walk up a flight of metal stairs and he knocks on the door, which is camouflaged into the black wall surrounding it. It opens and Robin greets us. She smiles at me. “It’s nice to see you again, Dani, Mr. Black is expecting you. Mr. Princeton if you could please come with me. We need to speak with the press.”

“Of course,” Paul replies. He turns to me with a focused brow. “You’ll be ok here?”

“Yep, I’ve got it covered.” I wink.

I watch as Robin and Paul exit the room chatting animatedly as they go. My stomach does a flip-flop, and I focus on my surroundings to regain my composure. The room isn’t much different from the lobby where my desk sits at P.E.S., dark wood and leather furniture. Two couches face each other with a mahogany coffee table between them. Unlike the apartment he took me to the last time, I see him in this room. It’s decorated with urban art, dark, and mysterious.

I feel a charge of electricity cut through the air, and turn to see Sebastian standing in the doorframe. He’s wearing an expensive tailor-made suit like he was the day we met. This one is also black. His tie, however, is gray just like those smoldering eyes. I meet his gaze and my mouth opens instinctively to allow me to intake more breath. He leans on the doorframe, holding my gaze, and I feel a heaviness building in the pit of my stomach. We stand there for what seems like an eternity taking each other in.

“Well,” he says. His voice is calm, collected, and poised, but I can see the storm brewing in his eyes. “Step into my office. As I understand it we still have much to discuss.”

I try to steady my shaking limbs as I place my hand in his. He smells delicious. It’s not cologne or body wash, it’s him. Rugged, manly, and sensual. He leads me to a soft leather chair that sits opposite his and makes his way around the wide mahogany desk that separates us.

From the moment his touch leaves my skin, I’m thirsty for it, needing it like lungs need oxygen. He sits in his executive chair, looking much like a mid-15th-century king on his throne. He looks expectantly at me and I shift in my seat, trying desperately not to meet his gaze.

“Would you care for a drink, Miss Stevens?” He offers.

“No, Mr. Black, I would not. I need to keep a level head in order to proceed with our business negotiations.”

A smirk threatens his lips as he takes a sip of what I can only presume to be scotch based on the amber coloring. “Very well, let’s get to the businessshall we.”

I timidly raise my eyes to meet his. “I think the event is going well, don’t you?”

He sets his drink down on a marble coaster without taking his eyes off me. “Quite, but I never doubted your capabilities, Miss Stevens.”

“Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and there’s a crowd lining the street. We’ve had to turn people away,” I inform him.

“My accountant will be very happy to hear that.”

I smile and look down at my hands, which I’ve been inadvertently twisting into knots in my lap. He follows my gaze. “Are you nervous, Miss Stevens?”

I inhale and fold my hands in between my knees, crossing my legs. “Perhaps a little.”

He picks up his crystal tumbler and stands. My skin breaks out in goosebumps as he walks toward me and leans against the desk. He removes his jacket and places it around my shoulders. As he does so, he expertly removes the hair from my neck and gently caresses it at the same time. The jacket is warm and smells of him, increasing the desire growing in my belly.

“There’s no need for you to be nervous, Danielle, we are two consenting adults coming to an agreement. We are doing nothing wrong.” He loosens his tie and I note his expensive looking jade and platinum cufflinks.

I clear my throat. “On second thought, I think I will have that drink. Nothing heavy though, red wine if you’ve got it.”

He walks toward a cocktail cart on the adjacent wall and I watch his sculpted ass, thinking of how it would feel to dig my nails into it. He returns and hands me a glass of a delicious smelling wine. I smile and take it from him, carefully sipping at it as he leans back onto his desk.

“So, have you given my proposition any thought?”

I lower the glass and stare into the dark red liquid. “I have.”

“And?”

I shrug. “It’s interesting.”

“Interesting as in you agree, or interesting as in I should be locked up in a padded cell,” he prods.

I consider his words carefully before raising my eyes to meet his. His stare burns with anticipation, although the rest of his face is stoic, his chiseled jaw is set in a way that would break Michelangelo’s Heart. I lightly caress my lips with my tongue struggling to find my voice.

“A little of both,” I say.

His eyes stare into mine, burning a hole straight to the center of my core. My knees weaken and my sex tingles with delight as I imagine what comes next.

“Does that mean you are saying yes, Miss Stevens?”

I smile sweetly at him and nod. “Yes, Mr. Black, I agree to the renegotiated terms of your contract.”

In one swift motion, he lunges at me and wraps my mouth with his as he lifts me on top of his desk. His hands run under the jacket and along my back, pushing it off me. I reciprocate by wrapping my legs around his waist and placing my hands on his firm, strong back kissing him back with fervor.

Author Bio

Kandice is a serial lover of all things pink, self-proclaimed chocoholic, homeschooling mother, and wannabe yogi.

Her debut erotica novel, Run to You, the first in the series Run, was released on February 10, 2015.

Kandi’s love of storytelling can be traced back to her fourth grade year, when a history lesson on Native Americans became too unimaginative for her liking. She took it upon herself to liven things up by creating a story that was based on half-truths about a self-named Indian Princess. Kandice is in fact of Native American heritage (her great-grandmother was a full-blooded Cherokee) and in her own mind a princess, so you can see where her inspiration came from. Her story was a huge hit with friends, and an author was born.

Kandice was born and raised in rural Arkansas, where she currently lives with her husband and three children. Though, if you ask her she’ll confirm that her soul is lost somewhere on the west coast waiting for the day that her body can rejoin it.

Blake Hunter is a basketball star who has it all—everything about him looks perfect to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can’t let anyone see the shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will disappear.
One dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she’s focused on it. But when the so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes with love, no one knows where the road may lead.

Excerpt
Chapter One
There was that familiar ache that I loved so much—a burn in my chest that spread to the rest of my body. There was just one other feeling I loved more. Well—two, if you included the high of sex.
Numbness.
A constant state of numbness was my euphoria.
You couldn’t tell. No one could.
My feet thudded against the pavement. Sweat dripped from my hairline, down my neck, and onto my bare back. I shut my eyes, urging the numbness to kick in. I wanted to feel it everywhere. Not just in my body but everywhere. Maybe I should quit basketball and take up smoking weed as a hobby. I laughed to myself—Dad would love that. Another reason to kick my ass.
I rounded the corner with my eyes still shut. I knew that path in the park better than I knew my own home. Which is why I was running at two in the morning on a Saturday night. Sunday morning?
Whatever.
I was five steps past the corner—the numbness had just started to seep in—when I bumped into something. My eyes sprang open, and I found myself staring at someone on the ground.
“Fuck, I’m sorry,” I huffed, trying to level my breathing. I rested my hands on my knees, waiting for the thumping in my heart to calm itself. My skin stung and my muscles throbbed from the impact of our bodies. I was six foot three, and my frame matched the constant training and rigorous workouts it endured. Her—I  couldn’t tell what she looked like—but I knew this much: if the collision had hurt me, it must’ve almost killed her.
She slowly came to a sitting position, resting her ass on her heels. Her head was bent, and her loose blonde hair formed a curtain around her face. She lifted her hands, palms up, and examined them. Blood.
“Shit! I’m so sorry.” A wave of panic whooshed through me.
Squatting in front of her, I took her hands to study the damage. She yanked them away and sniffed, straightening her legs out in front of her. Her short-ass skirt left nothing to the imagination.
“Dammit,” she whispered, her head still down.
My gaze moved from the hem of her skirt to her knees. Blood.
“Fuck, I’m so sorry,” I said for the third time.
It was dark, the only light coming from the moon and a lamppost fifteen yards away. I wanted to see her face, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to ask her to look at me. “Are you okay?”
Before she could answer, a rustling from the bushes interrupted us.
A guy stepped out, close to my age. He looked rough, rougher than the kids I hung out with—and I use that term loosely. He wiped the back of his hand across his mouth, then eyed it. Blood.
His eyes narrowed. Looking down at the girl in front of me, he seethed, “You fucking whore!”
Slowly, she stood up.
I swear I could actually hear the clicking of the pieces as it all fell into place in my mind.
Him—with his fat lip, torn shirt, and undone fly.
Her—now fully standing. The top of her tank was ripped, exposing one bra-covered breast.
I watched as her lips pursed and her eyes narrowed to slits, but then fire flamed in them as she yelled, “Fuck you!”
He took a step toward her with his hand raised.
Before I knew it, I was between them, gripping his forearm, my other arm behind me, wrapped around her waist. I could feel her shallow breaths against my back.
“Who the fuck are you?” he demanded, trying to pull away from my hold.
“Blake. Who the fuck are you?”
He laughed once, a snarl on his lips and a challenge in his eyes.
“What are you, her bodyguard?”
I lifted my chin and squared my shoulders. I towered over him, eying him down. I knew I could take him. Easily. “I don’t know, dickface. Does she need one?”
He tried again to withdraw his arm. I grasped it tighter. Then a cynical laugh escaped him. “Good luck. She’s a fucking tease— dresses like a whore but won’t even suck dick.” He looked around my shoulder at her. “You cock-teasing slut!”
Something in me snapped.
Blood rushed to my ears, and the numbness I’d hoped for was well and truly gone. My arm—the one previously wrapped around her—moved fast. My fingers had formed a fist and would have made contact with his face— Would have—if not for the tiny blonde girl standing in front of me. Between my intended target and me. With her entire body weight, she pulled my arm downwards, her eyes widening. “Don’t,” she said. “It’s not worth it.” Her voice was quiet, but her expression screamed for me to let it go. I was so surprised by her actions that I dropped Dickface’s raised arm.
Glaring at the guy behind her, I tried for an even tone as I warned, “You got three seconds to get out of here before I beat your ass.”
Her warm hands were now pressed against my chest, their pressure causing me to inhale sharply. My eyes fell to hers. They were pleading.
I heard “fuck this” and then heavy footsteps thumping against the pavement, the sound growing gradually more distant. My eyes, though, they never left hers.
After what felt like forever, she looked away.
I blinked for what seemed like the first time.
She suddenly noticed that her hands were still on my chest.
“Shit. I’m sorry,” she said, pulling them away and hiding them behind her back.
I swallowed. It was thick and embarrassingly loud, louder than the beating of my heart in my eardrums. “Are you okay?” I asked her. Bending slightly, I finally relaxed enough to catch my breath.
“Yeah, are you?”
Straightening, I studied her warily. She was a mess. Scraped knees. Disheveled hair. Shoe missing. I looked away when I caught sight of her purple bra, openly exposed from her torn top.
She cleared her throat.
I returned my gaze to her once she’d crossed her arms over her chest, hiding herself. She bit the corner of her lip, but everything else was still. There was no movement, not until she slowly raised her hand and wiped her cheek. “Thank you,” she whispered.
My eyebrows bunched. It’d been a while since I’d heard such genuine sincerity. “It’s no problem. Really.”
She tried to smile and then adjusted her top while taking off her remaining shoe. Then she just stood there, barefoot and shivering.
One arm at her side, holding her one and only heel, the other covering her breast. “Well, thanks for saving me.” She laughed softly, jerking her head toward the path behind us. “I better get going.”
I nodded, chewing on my thumb. Then some sense kicked in, and I stepped in front of her, blocking her from walking away.
“You shouldn’t be walking anywhere alone, especially—” I cut myself off. “Dressed like that” was definitely the wrong thing to say. Instead, I opted for “especially this late at night.”
Her smile was tight. “I’ll be fine,” she assured me, looking around at the darkness surrounding us.
She shivered again.
I pulled out my shirt, which I’d tucked into my shorts’ waistband, and handed it to her. “It’s probably wet—from my sweat— and it might smell a little funky, but you’ll be warmer.”
Her face relaxed, and her lips curled up. “Thank you, Blake.”
“You’re welcome, umm . . . ?”
She paused, searching my face. “Abby.”
“Abby.” I nodded in confirmation. “At least let me walk you wherever you need to go.”
She seemed to hesitate before nodding slowly. “I need to find my purse and my phone.” She studied me for a moment. “I don’t suppose you’re hiding a phone anywhere on you I can use for light?”

I looked down at my running shorts and sneakers. “No. But it’s in my car . . .” I pointed in the direction of the parking lot. “We can grab it and come back.”
She cursed under her breath. “It’s okay. I don’t think we’ll be able to find our way back here. Not when it’s this dark. I’ll come back in the morning or something.”
I smiled. Knowing that park as well as I did had its perks. “I know where we are. It’s fine.”
Grimacing, she asked, “Are you sure? You’re not . . . on your way somewhere?”
My laughter echoed through the still air. “Yes, Abby, I’m sure. Where would I be going dressed like this?”

She smiled then. Amusement danced in her eyes. “I don’t know.” She shrugged. “To kill someone?”
“What?” I asked, surprised at her sharp wit. I turned and began moving toward the lot.
When she caught up to me, she continued. “Think about it.
How many times do you hear on the news about dead bodies being found in parks? You know who always finds them? Joggers.”
I turned to her, tilting my head slightly, trying to work out whether she was serious or not. She tried to hide her smile before adding, “It seems a little suspicious to me—you joggers always being first on the scene and all. My theory is that you’re all a bunch of murderers, and you get away with it, using the jogger clause.
Makes me wonder if you have some underground club where you compare notes and brag about pulling off these murders.”
I threw back my head and laughed. “That’s one amazing theory.”
“Well,” she said, nudging my side with her elbow, “at least when you murder me, you’ll know that I was onto you, buddy.”
“Yet, here you are—walking with me in pitch-black darkness, at two in the morning, to a more-than-likely abandoned parking lot, under the impression I’m going to get you back to your necessities. You’re not even slightly afraid of what might happen to you?” All joking aside, she had to be a little worried. Surely.
The air around us turned thick. “No, Blake. I know I’m safe with you.”
She said my name as if it had a different meaning.
We walked the rest of the way to my car in silence.

My Review
4 Red-Letter Day Stars!!

When I signed up to receive an arc of this book I had no idea what it would be about. I just saw Jay McLean and thought yeah I'm so reading this book! And the cover, it's so pretty. I do love a book with a great cover but as you all know its a lot more than the pretty cover, the inside has to match and in this case it definitely did.

I didn't know this book was getting mixed reviews, I went into this book without looking at reviews or even the synopsis. I actually thought this would be a happy jolly read involving a road trip. Oh how wrong I was. This book took had me many ups and downs. The downs broke my bloody heart but then there were the awesome parts that had me smiling so hard!

I loved Blake! Can not put into words how much, he was just perfect. Blake is always trying to feel numb.It may look like he has a perfect life from the outside but nothing is like it looks. One night when jogging he bumps into Chloe and things after that are never the same.

I knew my future. I knew my fate. And I knew that I had absolutely no control of any of it.

Blake wants to know more about Chloe and how he has never noticed her before. Chloe feels something for him yet she doesn't want to. Chloe has been invisible her whole life because its the way she wants to live. She can't risk getting close to people. She did annoy me in parts, I just wanted her to tell Blake everything. I understood why she was doing what she was doing I guess going through bad stuff changes a person and she wasn't thinking rationally. But on the other hand I just wanted to scream that this was stupid and come on, its Blake. If you don't want him, I will have him.

'Sometimes the wrong path can lead us to the right road. And towards the greatest thing that will ever happen to us.'

I loved the other characters as well especially Josh. Jay can he please get his own book? *begs* He needs his happily ever after and I'd love more Josh. Also I loved Clayton. I'd have loved Clayton to have his own book or if we could have had a little more insight to his story. You broke my heart Jay McLean! Broke it then stomped all over it. Not cool!

'Think a little less, live a little more.'

Also Blake's mum was a character I didn't expect to like and I loved how everything came together. I see that I am saying 'love' a lot. I need to broaden my vocabulary. Yes, yes I do! And now I need to catch up on the More series!
