Blog Tour/Review: Fighting to Forgive (Fighting #2) by JB Salsbury

Fighting to Forgive

by JB Salsbury

What do you do when everything you avoid, turns out to be exactly what you need? Easy and predictable, just the way he likes it, Blake Daniels flies through life the way he burns through women: on his terms, no regrets. With his fighting career in full swing, he's on the threshold of title contention. But when his training is compromised by injury, the stakes grow impossibly higher. The rage that fuels his punches also chips away at his focus, and he risks losing everything he cares about. He won’t let that happen. Not again. Layla’s through with men. After a marriage that never should’ve happened, she hopes to reclaim the pieces of the woman she lost years ago. Emotional abuse has left her insecure and terrified. A master at faking what she’s not feeling, she masks her self-doubt in false confidence. She’ll never let another man hurt her. Not again. Chased by shadows of the past, Blake and Layla know what they don’t want, but their hearts have a different plan. As a web of lies and betrayal threatens to destroy them, they’re forced to make a choice. Is love enough to heal even the deepest wounds?

My Review

5 BLAKE LOVING, HOT, FIGHTING STARS!!

This is book 2 in the Fighting Series, whilst book 1 was about Jonah book 2 is Blake story.I liked Blake straight away when we met him in Fighting For Flight and this book made me fall for him! Aww I wanted him to have his happily ever after and he sooo does, after a lot of struggles and problems things get better and he kept fighting.

As soon as I started this I was hooked and couldn't wait to see what would happen, it was nothing like I had imagined. I felt like this was better than book 1 and Blake's character intrigued me.

"Remind me when I decide to settle down to find a girl without baggage. Preferably one with no family. No kids, ex-husbands, pyscho dads, fucking skeletons in the closet. None of that shit. I'd rather stay single my entire life, banging anyone who can keep up, than take on some chick with issues. You can tattoo that on my ass if you don't believe me."

The book starts off with a glimpse into Blake's childhood it doesn't all make sense straight away but later on in the book you find out and are like ahhhhh that's what it was! I despised Blake's father, a sick, controlling, abusive idiot. But now in the present time Blake is free, free from it all and flirty, dirty attitude gets him a women who will give him what he wants. He doesn't do relationships, he doesn't care for them.He is basically a man whore which we found out in book 1 but he also is a real good guy who didn't have the easiest life.he has demons from his past that still haunts him.

Layla has just moved places and is trying to get back on her feet after a getting out of an emotionally abusive relationship. Its much harder than it looks moving away, starting a new job, trying to make things work for her teenage daughter and so on.The last thing she needs is a hot man who irritates and intrigues her. Walking into her new job she meets Blake.

“Some women call me fine, I prefer handsome. Sexy works too, or you can call me Blake.”

I really liked her character she went through a lot and yet still stayed strong for her daughter.I loved the banter between Layla and Blake. She puts up this hard, in control front even when everything is falling apart in her life. This book is in both Blake and Layla's POV which was awesome as it gave us an insight on both of their lives, their messed up past and their feelings.

“ Her story laughs in the face of my preconceived ideas of women. She didn’t show weakness, but immense strength. She wasn’t selfish, but gave up her comforts for another.
Layla chose the fight, the struggle, and the sacrifice.”

This book has a bit of everything from funny, hot and passionate, torturous pasts, bitterness to loving, heart-warming moments! This book is very well written and I am so glad I got an ARC! Bravo J.B. Salsbury!! I liked that I didn't know how the story would play out it was different and I loved every moment!

“Mouse… I love you. I’ve never loved anyone in my entire life. And then you come along, and… my music, my fighting? None of it means anything without you. My life means nothing without you.”
