We all get one true love in our lives, and it’s up to us to find it. Fate will act and try to push us together, but ultimately it’s up to us to recognize who that one person is when he’s standing in front of us.

It turns out that I recognized who my one person was when I was separated from my husband.

Anxiety.
On the same day I determined that I was finally going to file for divorce, I confessed my secret to Jesse Drake, my swoon-worthy colleague known for his womanizing ways. Jesse invited me to crash with him, and with each new piece of the enigmatic Jesse puzzle that I started to fit into place, I found myself wondering if Fate had pushed us together for a reason.

If only my husband would stop getting in the way of the man with whom I was meant to be

As we approached my neighborhood, I gathered my purse from the floor of the car and took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was awaiting me.

But we drove right past my neighborhood. “I live back there,” I said, pointing my thumb behind us.

“Well I live up here,” he countered.

What?

“What?” I put voice to the question in my head.

“I’m not taking you to your house. You need someone to talk to, and you obviously need a night away from your almost ex. I’ve got extra space, and you might be aware that I have a degree in counseling, so I’m taking you home with me.”

My heart pounded, and then I felt a deep, aching throb start to form between my legs.

He was taking me home?

He was taking me home!

Holy shit!

I was going to Jesse’s house.

I was going to sleep in Jesse Drake’s bed.

Well, technically a guest bed that belonged to Jesse Drake.

Same difference.

“It’s okay, Jesse. You can take me to my house.” My argument was weak, but I knew I had to put one up anyway.

“Forget about it. You’re coming with me.”

I saw Grant first. He was my brother, so I couldn’t really judge his appearance, but Avery badgered me constantly about hooking her up with him. I told her that he was off limits. He was my brother, for God’s sake, not some random guy she met in a bar.

Besides, I couldn’t fathom the thought of my brother having sex, let alone having it with one of my friends. The thought disgusted me.

My mom stood and walked toward me to give me a hug when she saw me enter the room, and I locked eyes with my dad, who winked at me.

And then I noticed the guy with dark blonde hair sitting at the table.

He turned around to face me and something about him was oddly familiar.

Surprised blue eyes hidden behind black framed glasses.

A white polo shirt tucked neatly into khaki pants.

I tugged at my ponytail, tightening my hair in the band, suddenly self-conscious and not sure why. Okay, I was kind of sure why. This blonde guy was staring at me like he knew me, and then the next word out of his mouth confirmed that he did. “Quinn?”

Shit. He knew my name?

Who the hell was this guy, and why did he look so familiar?

“Reed. From the bar last night?”

Recognition dawned. Ah yes, the preppy guy who bought me a shot and whose name I immediately forgot.

What the fuck was he doing at my parents’ house?

“How do you two know each other?” Grant looked back and forth between us.

I glanced at my brother. “We don’t,” I said at the same time Preppy said, “We met last night at Strikers.”

SECOND OPINION
23014379

What do you do when the person you love most in the world breaks your heart… twice? Grant’s solution is avoiding relationships. Four years since the last time he saw Rachelle, his heart still can’t take another break.

“You’re not marriage material.” From the time he’d first heard those words spoken by the woman he loved, Grant Carpenter believed them.

When a woman he’s known for years shows an interest in him, he starts to question Rachelle’s words about marriage material, wondering if he might need a second opinion. Someone in the present, someone who has always been in the periphery but who he never gave a second glance, starts to take over his every thought.

Grant is armed with plenty of reasons to ignore what he’s feeling, but someone who should remain off-limits is suddenly overshadowing his obsession with his past. She’s making him want a future that he thought he’d written off, but he isn’t sure that she wants a future with him.

Ultimately, he has to decide what to do when the past makes her way back into his present.

Second Opinion contains adult situations and is intended for mature readers.

“Grant, I need your help.”

I turned toward the voice purring like a kitten in my ear and locked eyes with the same gorgeous brown ones that had been glancing in my direction all night.

I grinned and her face lit up. Somehow my smile tended to have that effect on women, especially when I turned it on full blast.

“What can I do for you?” I grabbed my bottle and took a long drink of my beer. It gave me something to do while I thought up my next line.

“Veronica and I got some stuff to decorate the bridal suite tomorrow. We need your help getting into the room.”

I thought quickly. “I’ve got it covered.”

“Thanks, Grant,” she said, squeezing my bicep.

I liked her hands on me.

I wanted more of that.

“Anything else I can do for you?”

“I can think of a few things.” A wicked smile broke across her face.

I raised an eyebrow in her direction.

I reasoned with myself through my beer-induced haze. I didn’t have a date for my sister’s wedding. I had decided to go solo because my choices weren’t very appetizing, for one, and for another thing, bringing a date to a wedding sent all the wrong messages to women.

Women loved weddings because they loved seeing the bride, they loved making judgments about everything from the flowers to the cake, and they loved the idea of happily ever after.

Apart from the false sense of hope, I wasn’t about to bring some random girl to meet my family.

I’d never brought home anyone to meet my parents, including Rachelle. I was intensely private about my personal life, although my sister had gotten a pretty good idea of what I did in my spare time. She’d stayed with me for a while when Reed had been living with me.

But not bringing a date meant my dance card was essentially empty barring the requisite bridal party dances. And that meant I’d have plenty of time at the reception the next night to get to know Avery.

Unless, of course, she was bringing a date to the wedding. I wasn’t sure how to ask that question without sending the wrong message.

Avery broke into my thoughts. “Save me a dance tomorrow, okay?”

I lowered my voice and leaned in toward her. “I’ll save you more than a dance, Avery.”

She stood and pushed in her chair, and then she leaned down, giving me an excellent view of her tits spilling over the top of her dress. “I’ll be looking forward to more than a dance, then.” She smiled wickedly and walked back to her chair.

How He Really Feels Teaser

Who cared that I didn’t have anyone to kiss at midnight? The important thing was that this was the end of an old year and the start of a brand new one, and I had several goals in mind for this new year. The most important, of course, being Nick. I would find a way to push past this professional business friendship relationship we had formed. I would find a way to kiss him, hold him, make love to him in this new year.

It was my resolution, and I was determined to make it happen.

Everyone raised their glasses in the air and counted along, “Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven! Six! Five! Four! Three! Two! One! HAPPY NEW YEAR!” I glanced over at Lucy, whose lips were locked to Jake’s, and then Travis, who was kissing Brooke. I smiled, happy for my friends despite my lack of a man to kiss at midnight, when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

I turned around, and my heart stopped as my eyes met Nick’s. Utter shock hit me as I realized that he was actually here. And he looked fucking sexy in a black suit with a gray shirt under it, open at the collar. He had just a shadow of a beard, making him look rugged and manly, and his hair was mussed perfectly in every direction. I was so dazed that he was standing in front of me that I was rendered momentarily speechless.

The room suddenly got very quiet around me, and all I could do was stare at him. His eyes never left mine as he brought both of his hands up to cup my cheeks and I was certain at that moment that he was going to kiss me. My heart slammed into my ribs and then my eyes closed automatically as his lips brushed mine just once. Every nerve ending in my body was alight with electricity at our connection. He clutched me close against his chest in a quick embrace. “Happy New Year,” he murmured, his breath tickling close against my ear, sending shivers down my spine. And then, as if it had all been a dream, he was gone.

What He Really Feels Teaser

 Excerpt
We headed to Mahogany, the same place I had gone for New Year’s Eve a little over a month earlier. While the place immediately reminded me of Jules, I had to admit that it was an awesome bar with a great vibe. The bar was, obviously, made from mahogany, and that’s where Bill, Mike, and I had settled in on three barstools with me in the middle.
“Barkeep!” Mike yelled obnoxiously over the dance music that pumped from the sound system. The male bartender looked over at him and then proceeded to totally ignore him. Bill pulled out a twenty and waved it around, and the bartender made his way over.
“What’re you having?” he asked.
“Three shots of Jaeger,” Bill said.
The bartender looked at him. “You’re gonna need more than twenty bucks for three shots.”
Bill glanced over at us, and then he took his wallet out to provide more money while the bartender poured our drinks.
He passed the drinks across the bar to us. “Twenty-four,” he said to Bill.
“Fuck,” Bill said. He looked at me. “Eight bucks for a shot?”
I shrugged while he paid, and then the three of us toasted. “To getting fucked up,” Mike said, and we cheered and threw back the Jaeger.
A hundred bucks later, the three of us were feeling good and drunk when three ladies walked up to the bar to order their drinks. I checked each of them out from behind since their backs were to us, and after they placed their orders, they turned their attention to my friends and me. Each one of them focused on one of us, as if they had some sort of pre-arranged deal. It wasn’t my first time playing that particular game, and I somehow found myself incredibly drawn to the hottest one, the one whose attention was on me.
I gasped for breath as I gazed down the length of her petite, tight body and briefly thought that she could easily help me get over Jules. I frowned at the random thought.
She had dark hair and dark eyes, and she was short – a full foot shorter than me at least, if not more. She was Jules’s exact opposite in almost every way. Jules was tall with flowing blond hair and beautiful blue eyes while this woman was short with dark hair cut in a blunt style that fell just above her shoulders and dark, exotic eyes that I could get lost in.
In fact, I think I was already lost in them.

I walked into his office and stood on the opposite side of his desk from him. “Nick, you know I choose you. I can’t live without you. I love you, and I can’t wait to become your wife.”
He gazed at me for a long moment, and then the corners of his mouth tipped up into a small smile. “My wife,” he repeated.
He stood up from his chair, the leather squeaking as he rose. He walked over to the door and shut it. Eric and Josh, Nick’s roommates, were around somewhere, both getting ready to move out by the end of the month, and clearly Nick wanted privacy. With me.
After he shut the door, he stalked over to me. “My wife,” he whispered again, taking me in his arms.
“Let’s not fight,” I pleaded.
“Let’s never fight again,” he murmured.
“Deal,” I said, and I pressed my lips to his. The familiar buzz zipped through my spine as his mouth took mine aggressively. I loved the way his tongue moved sensually against mine, and the slow burn in my belly made its way down as desire overtook every sensation in my body and every thought in my mind.
God, I had missed him. I had missed this intimacy, this connection with him.
His electric fingertips danced across my skin slowly, leaving a burning tingle in their wake. He found the hem of my shirt and lifted it over my head, tossing it on the floor next to us and then removing his own before his lips crashed back down over mine. He unsnapped my bra with one hand as the other hand pressed into the small of my back. The feeling of his fingertips across my skin was utter perfection.
He was truly an expert at seduction, and he was mine.
Forever.

NIGHTTIDES (Anthology)
21936333

I wished I would get over the pain of a broken heart. I thought an escape to the beach with my best friend would make my wish come true.

My goal was to meet a sexy stranger and fall in lust.

Cue Ben, a sexy stranger traveling on business.

I made him promise that our week of fun would stay in California. He made me promise that I wouldn’t fall for him.

I’m not sure that either of us will be able to keep our promises.

You come out here for a breath of fresh air, too?”
“Yeah. Honestly, I don’t even know what I’m doing here. This isn’t my scene.”
“Can I tell you a secret?” I asked, wondering where this sudden burst of confidence came from in the presence of such an attractive man.
He nodded, and I leaned in. “This isn’t my scene, either.”
He rewarded my flirtation with a laugh, and I couldn’t help but laugh along with him. “Walk with me,” he said, and I followed him along the balcony to a staircase.
He led me down the stairs, and I walked alongside him down the sidewalk away from the club.
“I really shouldn’t go too far,” I said, suddenly nervous to be walking away from my friend with a complete stranger. “My friend will wonder where I went.”
“The friend you were escaping by getting a breather on the balcony?”
He had a point, and something made me trust him. My instincts about people tended to be dead on, a trait that came in handy in my public relations career. “I'm Emily Foster.”
“Ben Parker.”
“What’s a guy like you doing at a bar like that, Ben Parker?”
“Same thing a girl like you was doing there, Emily Foster.”
I loved the way the deep timbre of his voice formed my name.
“Scouting the crowd for hot guys?”
He chuckled. “I was going to say that I went for a drink.”
I shrugged unapologetically.
“Well?”
I glanced over at Ben. “Well what?”
“Did you find any hot guys?”
I liked where he was headed with this. “Just one.”
“That’s interesting.”
“Oh?”
“Because I only found one hot girl.”
My face heated at his words.
“Yeah, but she left just before I went out to the balcony for some fresh air.”
“Oh.” My ego deflated almost instantaneously.
Caught up in my own head, I hadn’t realized that he had stopped walking. I stopped, too, and turned back to look at Ben.
“Emily, I’m fucking with you. You’re the only hot girl I saw all night.”
