Blurb
When I was ten, my father indoctrinated me into the family.

A brotherhood who would fight, protect, and give their lives for one another. A club whose ties ran thicker than blood, murkier than the dirt and grime that tainted my soul. Stronger than the bonds that connected me to my own family.
A band of brothers, where loyalty was kept and paid in a currency of blood.
When I was twenty-seven, I betrayed that brotherhood.
I’ve spent every day since running, avoiding paying back that debt.

My name is Daniel Johnson. I have betrayed everyone I ever loved.
And I’ll betray her too.
This is my story—if you’re screwed up enough to want to read it.

Warning: KICK contains graphic violence, profanity, drug use, and explicit sexual situations of a taboo nature. Intended for an 18+ audience only. Not intended for pussies.

Excerpt
I pick up a cup of cold, stale, black coffee and chug it down. It tastes like shit, so I screw the cap off of a bottle of Jack and chase the black filth with the burn of amber. I set it back on the table while the familiar click of my gun being cocked echoes through my small room. I laugh. Fucking ballsy bitches make me hot.
“Hands in the air, and turn around. Slowly,” the woman says through a scratchy throat. I do as she asks, mostly because I want to keep my spine intact, but also partly because bitches with guns are fucking hot, and I’m hard as a rock just thinking about the way she’s gonna look with a pistol trained on me.
She’s been busy while I was out, rummaging through my drawers and finding a pair of loose tracksuit pants. They’re rolled at the waist, so much that it makes her look pregnant. That, combined with her crazy fuckin’ cat lady hair and the filth covering her body, makes her look like a homeless person.
I smile and clasp my hands behind my head. Her eyes rove over me, taking in my size. She’s checking me for the arsenal I so obviously have stashed away in my fucking worn, faded jeans. She’s not checking me out and dreaming about me taking her rough and hard on my fucking scratched-up dining table, but I still get a fucking boner out of having her eyes roam all over me.
“Pick up the keys, and open the door,” she commands.
“If you run, they’ll shoot you.”
“Pick up the fucking keys.”
I snatch up the keys and lob them at her, hard enough that she has to twist out of the way. She cries out as she does, proving to me that her ribs are definitely injured, maybe even cracked. I lunge at her. Shoving her back against the bed, I land on top of her, warding off her blows with one hand and squeezing her wrist with the other until she drops the gun on the floor.
“Get off me!” she screams.
“You’re not leaving this clubhouse,” I whisper in her ear as she struggles beneath me. “The best you can hope for is to play nice and I might decide to keep you as a house mouse. But if you piss me off, and if you pull on me with my own gun again, your life will be so much worse. You thought the dentist was fucked up? Baby, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve lived inside my fantasies for a day. So if I were you, I’d be really fuckin’ careful about how you play your next move.”

My Review

4 Kickass Stars!!

I can't believe this is the first book I am reading by Carmen Jenner.I heard quite a lot about Sugartown series but not had a chance to get round to it. Ahh too many books and so little time. When I saw this one pop up in my email I thought why not, lets sign up. I'm so glad I did!

"I'm not the hero in this story; I'm the motherfucking villain."

This is an action packed, dark, raw, heart gripping story that will have you clutching on and eager for more.I didn't really read anything on this book and went in not knowing much which was brilliant because it made it even better.Had me guessing and staying up late at night saying to myself..just one more chapter, last chapter and I will put it down. That obviously failed. Don't read reviews just go straight in and find out for yourself.

“No Angel hands in their wings; they have ’em stripped, burned off, or blacked out, but no one ever fuckin’ walks away a free man.”

This book is in both Kick and Kayla/Indie's POV so you get an insight into both their lives which is necessary at points. Its just such a messed up story about too broken lonely people who are brought together due to a terrible situation. Two lonely souls who are drowning in nightmares and a terrible past. This flicks back and forth from past to present and I don't really enjoy that and at times it can put me off the book. Fortunately that didn't happen but at times I just wanted it to stick to one. I was so into the present side of it and then it hits next chapter and we are in the past and I screaming in my head Nooooooooo! Stop this let me read on in the present. Omg I need to quickly read and get back to the present. I guess this made me read faster and keep reading. And when you finally find out what happens. My hear. Broke.
Poor Kick I just wanted to hold him and chase away the loneliness.

"I love the broken ones because for a brief second, in the heat of the moment, I can forget how fucked up I truly am inside. I can forget about the darkness that I crave. I can forget who I am and focus on someone else's pain, because that has to be infinitely better than wallowing in my own."

I'm not the biggest fan of Biker books but I do read them when the mood strikes and at times I find ones that I end up really enjoying. This is one of those books and I can't wait for more.It broken, it's twisted and it will make you crave more!

Review: Dirty Ties by Pam Godwin

Synopsis

Revenge.
I race to finance it.
I evade to protect it.
I kill to attain it.
I planned everything.

Except her.
The alluring, curvaceous blonde at the finish line.
With sapphire eyes that cheat and lie.
Whose powerful family murdered mine.

I hate her.
I want her.

I know she’s hiding something.
But so am I.

My Review

4 Stars!!

This is the second book I have read by Pam Godwin, the first one being Deliver which I bloody loved! And PG did not disappoint. When I started this book I was a little slow because I was in a book funk and every book I was reading I just couldn't finish or get into it.Obviously this one turned out differently thank god!

"...beneath the tailored power-suit and affluent family, I was a woman like any other with a need for acceptance, a connection to cling to, a passion to balance out the monotony."

I got so into it and it was fast paced, action packed and thrilling. At times I felt like I was watching this action movie and the way everything came together was brilliant.I was clutching on, trying to piece it all together and there were times when my heart hurt for the characters, other times I wanted to kill a few. This book takes you through a roller-coaster of emotions but it is all worth it!

Revenge wasn’t an emotion. It was my inheritance, the acting force that lived in my blood and sustained my balance.

This book is written in dual povs so we get an insight to the lives of both main characters. This is a must since they are both so secretive and in order to stay alive they need to be. Kaci Baskel seems to have it all but looks can be deceiving. She puts on a great act but inside she is hollow, she is lonely and trapped. The only time she feels free and alive is when she sneaks off to watch Evader race. She can be anonymous hiding under her helmet and so can he.

Never would she have thought that Evader knows quite a lot about her.Even when she tries to hide who she is and watches him. She isn't alone in the watching, he watches her too. These characters have so much chemistry. They both have secrets that have become a burden on then in a way, one cause Evader to seek revenge and the other cause Kaci to live an unhappy life.

Just jump in to this book. This standalone will take you on one hell of a ride!

My Review

3 Damaged Stars!

This has been on my kindle for ages now and I have just let it be.I think it was a free for a time on amazon and that's when I got it.Recently I decided to clean up my kindle since I just seem to keep adding more books and leaving behind the rest and without giving them a shot. I mainly started to work through my arc list but this was a random one I wanted to get through. Lying there at the bottom, being all neglected! So that's why I started reading it I hadn't really heard much about it so I thought meh why not?

Staring up at Cooper, I held his gaze and forced a smile. “I like you a lot. I don’t think we make any sense, but I wish we did.”

Farah Smith has had to leave her dad and sister behind and attend college which has always been her dream. Her life hasn't been easy not with what happened to her in the past and its not getting easier especially with the fact that she has to be away from her best friend or only friend and sister and start new with a mother who doesn't want her.

Cooper Johansson is a local bad boy that everyone wants or is afraid of.His family is respected and feared in the community. Cooper and Farah meet in class and they are drawn to each other yet Farah wants nothing to do with a scary looking, tattooed bad boy.

“This date. You’re really giving me a chance, right? I need for you to be open to things and not just playing along because I said I would keep chasing. I need a real chance because you’ve got me all messed up inside.”

I really liked Cooper even though he was an arsehole at times and did some stupid things he really did want more from her. Farah had me so annoyed at times like ahhh *Pulling my hair out* So whiny and awkward at times. It's like womaaaan there is a hot man who wants you. Embrace it haha. Then again I understood later on why she did certain things but still it wasn't enough.I wanted her to get some help and sort her past crap out.

There were some funny moments which I loved and this book had alot of potential.I just wanted Farah to be more uhmm...badass? something like that. Also Bailey? I bloody hated her.She isn't cute little sister kinda girl she is a bitch. So self absorbed as was Skye. Not good friends at all and their advice was stupid pft! I didn't really know what to rate this book 2.5 or 3 so because this book did have parts I truly did enjoy I will stick to 3 stars!
