The most exclusive, anything-goes, all-night dance club is alive with music, drinks, and unrivaled passion. As The Core’s top matchmaker, Alice is gunning for a promotion. One she’s got locked down as long as nothing disrupts her dance-floor dominating routine. But when the sexy mechanic Evan walks into her work and shakes her confidence in her matchmaking abilities, Alice can’t resist his good looks or his passionate ways. He sweeps her off her feet, enticing her with the adrenaline of his bike and the intensity of his attraction to her.

But Alice knows she can’t get close to anyone from The Core. And after learning the secrets in Evan’s past that drive his irresistible, never-hold-back personality, she’s not sure she can let him go without falling back on the dangerous patterns that haunt her own drug-addicted history. Admitting his part in the devastating loss of his brother nearly rips Evan apart.

Those pills locked in a drawer in her office grow more tempting with each passing day.

Now it’s Alice’s turn to let go of her fears and elevate herself to a new level... one filled with passion, confidence, and—she hopes—Evan’s reckless love.

“Hey!” Andee stops when she sees me and stares, taking in the sight of my dirty tank top. I neglected to change it before we went to the hospital. “Whoa, what happened to you?”

I limp toward the bedroom. “I was riding a bicycle,” I say.

Andee chuckles. “You’re calling Evan a bicycle now? That’s not very nice.”

“Ha-ha,” I say. “Really. I fell in the mountains. Gotta stay off my feet for a few days.”

“Oh, shit, Alice,” Andee says. “Are you okay?”

I wave her off. “Yeah, just some antibiotic cream and I’ll be fixed right up.” My toes go cold as I omit a critical part of the truth from my best friend. “You don’t mind if I just hit the sack, do you? I’m fucking exhausted.”

Andee peels the tinfoil lid off the pasta, steam billowing out. “No, of course not. Get some rest. Are you hungry? Do you need anything?”

“Nah, just my pillow. Thanks, Andee.” My stomach rolls. Hungry as I was a moment ago, lying to Andee is too much for my appetite to handle.

I close my bedroom door and set my purse on the mattress. Get myself a glass of water from the bathroom. Sit down. Open the bag, pull out the bottle. Read the label twenty times.

Am I really going to do this?

These pills were prescribed to me, I reason. By a doctor, for a real injury. I didn’t fake a migraine to get them, nor did I buy them off the street. The bottle actually says my name, not the name of a widow who left a pile of prescription drugs behind for her adult children to sell. I did nothing wrong today.

Nothing wrong yet. If I swallow one of these little, white pills, I’ll be letting myself slide down into a rabbit hole that doesn’t have a way out. I should lock these pills in my bottom drawer at The Core and throw the key off a mountain.

My leg throbs with urgency as if to sway my decision. I put the bottle on my nightstand, shuffle out of my skirt, and apply some of the cream to my wound. Curling up on my side, I stare at the little orange bottle and read my name over and over again.

I can’t sleep with these pills in the room. I could sleep if Evan was here, but he’d insist I take one of them. I wouldn’t be able to argue with him without letting something slip out. I’m damned if I do, and I’m damned if I don’t.

My foot really does hurt.

So I flip the lid off the bottle, put just one pill on my tongue, and swallow it down. It tastes like failure, but as the medicine warms my blood, my bed starts to feel softer than it ever has before. My pain subsides. All the worrying was for nothing. I’m not behaving like an addict. I’m being a good patient, following my doctor’s orders. I have nothing to be ashamed of.

I wake two hours later, the throb in my leg returning with a vengeance. I try to find a comfortable position. Every way I turn pulls the skin on my thigh tight, and makes my foot ache anew. The medication bottle says I should only take one pill every four to six hours. But I was sleeping so peacefully, and I need sleep if I’m going to heal. I know I have kind of a high tolerance for narcotics, anyway. That light, airy feeling of nothing holding me down would help me drift back into a deep, soothing slumber.

So I take another one.

The bottle of pills is empty by morning.

Q&A With Emily and Nola

1.   Which one book will always stay with you?

Emily: Karen Chance’s TOUCH THE DARK has always stayed with me. It’s a really cool world with so much going on, I’ll never forget it.

Nola: There are far too many to list, but the first romance novel I ever read that made me say, “Yeah, I want to write about LOVE AND SEX” was Judith McNaught’s PERFECT.

2.When did you decide you wanted to become a writer?

Emily: When I was 11 I wrote Brad Pitt a poem. I can still recite all of it. It’s SO lame.

Nola: I was six when I wrote a book about a boy named Vincent who died from smallpox. Her sister cried and cried. And my parents were a little concerned, I think. But I was always good at explaining emotion, so that’s kind of what I do in books, now.

3.   Fav book from your childhood?

Emily: If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. Not only did I have that book as a child, all my kids do, too.

Nola: In The Night Kitchen by far.

4.Fav author?

Emily: J.S. Scott and her Billionaire series.

Nola: Jacqueline Carey for the Kushiel series.

5.Are any of the characters you write about similar to you?

Emily: Andee would be close to my early adulthood. Life is about having fun.

Nola: Probably Three from JADED TOUCH. I don’t have her temper, but I’m kind of a floaty thinker and am extremely protective of those I love.

6.If you could kill one character from any book who would it be and why?

Emily: I would kill Andee and take her place in The Core.

Nola: Whoa, Emily, you’re dark. Although I might kill Evan and take his place in Alice. ;-) Wait, that came out wrong...

7.If you could be any paranormal being for a day which would you choose to be and why?

Emily: See Nola’s answer. I’ll be kicking ass at her side.

Nola: I always say I’d choose to be a vampire, but all I really want is like a shitload of wicked supernatural abilities. So I’ll say every creature in every book who can do that kind of stuff. ;-)

8.Last book you read?
Emily: Hunger of a Yeti by Tommy Donbavand. Hey, I got kids, lol.

Nola: The last book I read was DIVINITY by Michelle L. Johnson. Great, adult urban fantasy!

9.If you could live in a book which book would it be?

Emily: I would live in the Chronicles of Narnia. I play that shit in the clothing racks of Walmart.

Nola: I would live in the Star Wars universe. Yes, I would. LIGHTSABERS.

10. One thing not many people know about you is...

Emily: I am a horrible, horrible sleepwalker. I have left the house before. Many times.

Nola: I am a totally open book. But I don’t often tell people I can do a killer impression of Counselor Deanna Troi from Star Trek: TNG.

My Review
4 BROKEN, I-NEED-MORE STARS!!

After reading some crap books I decided to start this book in hopes that it would bring me out of the book funk.I see some good reviews and now I know why. When I see Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, Bared to You, and Release Me will be hooked.. I am like damn I need to read that book as I loved them books! It made me thing that this book would contain a broken alpha male who finds a women who accepts him in all his brokenness and so on..Yeah this book wasn't like that. There wasn't BDSM involved and Ethan wasn't really controlling a it was much more softer and sweeter.

Ruined is book 1 of the Ethan Frost series by Tracy Wolff, this is the first book I have read by this author and I want more.I loved the chemistry between Ethan and Chloe, the way they teased each other and the banter was awesome, made me laugh especially the smoothie scene.

His hands come up to cup my face, to tilt my head this way and that so he can delve deeper. So I can welcome him wholly inside me. And I do. For these few, stolen moments out of time, I welcome everything he can give me.

Chloe is broken and fragile even though she puts up a good front, after having a rough past she is still trying to get her life back on track.trying to be in control, trying to be normal again, but lets face it she was never normal, not after what she faced and she may never be normal.

First day of her summer internship at Frost Industries and this is what she has always wanted, to be here. Strong independent and trying to get herself through school. She has a plan and she is in control.Things don't seem to go as planned when Ethan Frost sets his eyes on her.He sees more then she wants him to and he is determined to have her.
Chloe has never felt like this before, she is confused and scared as much as she wants to push Ethan away and have him out of her life, she can't.He feels safe, he makes everything better.

In that one, perfect moment, I want more. I want everything. Everything I’ve denied myself since I was fifteen years old. Everything I’ve told myself I don’t want and shouldn’t have.

Ethan..Oh Ethan! He is awesome I loved how he was different, he didn't come across as a cold, serious or impatient.I loved how he treated her as someone precious, he was gentle and wanted to be there for her.He could tell that she had been through some tough times but didn't know much else, yet he wanted to help. His touch healed her, mended some of the cracks in her heart.

You see that he has demons of his own yet all the secrets haven't been revealed, there is much more to the story which I am dying to find out about. The ending..omg cliffhanger! I knew if would be a cliffhanger but I saw hot alpha male and was like cliffhanger what? I will read this book and I will complain when I finish because I have to wait until the next book *sniffs* I knew it I knew it! I was somewhat shocked and then at the back of my mind I knew something like this would happen!

You think its going to be all happy and lovely and then boom! everything changes..

Oh book 2 when can I have you?

Will they let their pasts destroy them, or will they risk everything to fight for their relationship when it all comes undone?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Excerpt
Embry sat in the middle of Luke’s floor, surrounded by baking flour. It was everywhere.
He walked in, and she did everything she could to hide her smile when she saw the look on his face. He was sexy as usual with no shirt, pajama pants hanging off his hips, and bedroom eyes. Until he took in the scene in the kitchen. His beautiful bedroom eyes widened into surprised saucers as he stared at Embry.
 “Problem?” she deadpanned.
Luke shook his head, seemingly at a loss for words.
“I was going to make you breakfast.” She picked up a handful of flour and let it sift through her hands like a child would sand on the beach.
“That was nice of you,” he said carefully. “What happened instead?”
Embry hung her head. “I had an incident with the flour.”
Luke walked toward her, leaving floury footprints on the dark, tiled floor. Squatting in front of her, he brushed her hair from her face. “I can see that, baby. But what, exactly, happened?”
Good question. She'd woken up determined to surprise him with a nice breakfast. After searching his well-stocked pantry and refrigerator, she found all the ingredients necessary for blueberry pancakes. She pulled everything out that she would need except the flour. His pantry had tall pull-out cabinets, and the flour sat at the top of one. She’d poked around until she located a step stool. She used it to reach the flour, but the stool didn’t give her enough height. Stretching as far as she could, her fingers grazed the tip of the package. She hoped she could knock it over into her arms, but the flour toppled into her chest before it fell to the floor and exploded.
"I was going to make you blueberry pancakes, but I knocked the flour down from the top shelf of the pantry, and it kind of exploded."
His eyes traveled around the kitchen. An inch of flour covered most of the surfaces, including Embry. He brought his eyes back to her and wiped at a smudge of flour on her cheek. "I kind of figured that part out."
She glared at him, grabbed his arms, and pulled, causing him to fall to the floor in a cloud of white powder.
He narrowed his eyes and tackled her, pinning her arms above her head and hovering over her. "Really, Bree? You sure you want to play this game? You'll lose."
Never one to back down from a challenge, Embry wiggled beneath him, trying to pull her arms free. "Bring it on, Brody," she said, her voice husky.
His mouth found hers, and he released her arms, giving her free rein to explore his body. She ran her hands over his muscled back, up his arms, and into his hair. Just as she was starting to enjoy herself, he pulled away. Before she knew it, he had pulled her back to her feet.
“All right,” he said, clapping and making flour fly. “Pancakes. Let’s do this.”
Embry stepped toward him, softening her eyes and sticking out her bottom lip in a perfect pout. “I’m not interested in pancakes anymore.”

My Review

***4 UNDONE STARS!!***

If you are looking for a book filled with romance, drama, secrets, messed up pasts and a cliffhanger this is definitely the right book for you!
Undone is book 1 in the Disclosure series by R.E.Hunter..A love story with complications. Can two people overcomes their pasts and create a future together? Or will past secrets rip them apart?

Embry Jacobs is a strong, independent woman who is studying law.She is focused and most of her life is based around her studying nothing can distract her from her goal..or so she thinks. She is recovering from her past which has left her damaged and she has returned home with her best friend Morgan to New York after running away from her past.

She’d had to pick up the pieces of her broken life and move on once before. But she couldn’t do it again, not after all of her hard work. She wouldn’t accept it, she couldn’t.

During their orientation Embry ends up running into a hot Lucas Brody who she can't stop thinking about! This “hallway hottie” ignites something in Embry that she never thought she would feel, not after all the bad in her past.Things change when she meets Luke he is smitten with her as she is with him and things start to move fast. Embry wasn't looking for a distraction but somehow Luke created a place in her life and it may lead to consequences and destroy a lot of things.

“You own me, Embry. I’m yours.”

Lucas Brody is smart, funny, caring, gentle and beautiful..how can you say no to that? When a beautiful girl runs right into him and takes his breath away Luke has to fight to keep himself away from her, but he can't help himself, he is drawn to her and can't give her up. After leaving his old school behind and getting a new job Luke is trying to move on from his past and get by but Embry changes everything.

What happens when they are both come face to face with their ugly pasts? Will their relationship survive? Will the past repeat itself?

Some parts of this book were slow but then I got into it and was hooked until the end.The bloody cliffhanger left me thinking and making up random excuses for the characters. Omg can I have the next book? like now? Seriously how can you leave us hanging like that? Do you make it your mission to torture us? I loved the twists in this book they were unexpected and left me wanting more.

I liked Embry for most of this book she had her annoying times but I was glad she was open and how their relationship just worked, they clicked, it's like everything was perfect and then Boom! Why? I hated the secrets and was getting real suspicious of a certain somebody who kept getting edgy and weird near the end.I can't wait to find out how the story continues and I swear next book better not end up turning into a love triangle or somebody is going to get hurt!

~Excerpt~

Phillip took one final step closer. “Just give me one more chance, please? I’m begging you, and you know I never beg.” He was starting to freak me out, displaying a new personality I’d never met before. I’d thought my introductions had been made with all of them by now. “And if you go on one of you crazy rampages, then what? I’m supposed to forgive you again? I can’t keep going through this vicious cycle, Phillip.” I suddenly noticed he had slyly made his way into my house. Standing firmly by the door, I wasn’t about to let him in any further.

~My Review~

3-3.5 DESTRUCTIVE, TOXIC STARS!

After finding out a little bit about Jaxon who is visiting his cousin Reed who is like a big brother to Courtney.Reed is Kendra(Courtney's best friend) boyfriend. Kendra persuades Courtney to go on a blind date with Jaxon to help her move on from her abusive ex-boyfriend Philip(the twat)

I definitely preferred the hard, sexy chest.I felt his body tense up.Oh hell, did I just say that out loud? Judging by the sudden shift in the atmosphere I knew I had.

Jaxon is older than Courtney and doesn't think anything will happen during this blind date. it turns out to be more than that, Jaxon and Courtney have chemistry and he challenges her and they make each other better. But yeah only if it focused on these two eh? For Courtney its not that easy and she can't seem to move past her feeling for her ex-bf who treated her like crap.

Kendra the sensible female knows what she is talking about and Courtney really needed to listen to her and stop hiding stuff.I swear I was like why? why do you have to make it all so complicated? Kendra lives life to the fullest and is quite wild I liked her character more that Courtney's.

Jaxon was a bloody mystery I really wanted to know more about him and understand what is going on but I felt like the book focuses more on Phillip and Courtney.Maybe the next book will hold the answers and all the secrets will be revealed. The twists were like omg nooo! Maybe if I blink hard enough that will all be a lie and this wont have happened in the book!!
Yeah didn't work :(

I really don't know what to rate this I left it for a day and came back to do the review yet the decision isn't any easier. There were so many things that annoyed me and then there was also the things I quite enjoyed.this book had a lot of drama and Courtney wound me up so much.I wanted to shake her and scream wake the hell up woman!! I know people react differently to abuse but after being abusive relationship with a vindictive cruel manipulative guy who turned the school against you, you would think ahh blank the fucker may he burn in hell. Would you fall for his tricks again? Errr I think not if you follow these simple steps.

Number 1- stay the fuck away from him, ignore that piece of shit.
Number 2- Punch him in the balls if he tries to hurt you.
Number 3- repeat number 2 anyways because its fun to see him suffer.

Phillip pissed me off so many times I swear I nearly crawled into the book and broke his neck several times.*screams and pulls hair out*
I felt like Courtney kept making the wrong decisions..choose Jaxon you idiot. -.-

Ahh the ending..God what a bloody ending..Why a cliffhanger?!!
I can't believe that happens like oh man icing on the cake eh?
Just when things look they are getting better *BOOM!* disaster strikes again!
Poor Jaxon :(

Fuck my life.
If I couldn't beat fate, I might as well join the destructive life she had laid out before me.

~About Author Jill Patten~

 photo 1367775529601.jpg

Jill Patten was born a Yankee, but raised a southerner. She lives in the small town of Mayberry, North Carolina which was made famous by a popular TV show back in the sixties. (Maybe there will one day be a statue of her at the end of Main Street. Ha! A girl can dream, right?) Jill has always loved to read, even during reading labs in middle school for reading comprehension. Judy Blume was her first author she hero-worshipped, maturing to revere the works of Stephen King. With all the fantastic authors today, she simply cannot choose a favorite. Her taste is very eclectic and she loves almost all genres. When she's not captivated by her fictional characters, she spends time with her sweet husband and two beautiful children. Music is her muse. Jill also loves elephants, sarcasm, and anything made with sugar, especially sweet tea. She enjoys all things rude and crude and laughs at stuff she probably shouldn't. She has been accused of being bossy a time or two, but doesn't really see it herself. All in all, Jill is just a small town girl in this great big world trying to enable your book addiction. Oh, and if you read her book, please leave her a review - good or bad, she'll love you forever.
