Review: Kiss an Angel By Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Synopsis

Wedding Day

Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don't happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?

Alex Markov, as humorless as he is deadly handsome, has no intention of playing the loving bridegroom to a spoiled little feather-head with champagne tastes. He drags Daisy from her uptown life to a broken down traveling circus and sets out to tame her to his ways.

But this man without a soul has met his match in a woman who's nothing but heart. Before long, passion will send them flying sky high without a safety net... risking it all in search of a love that will last forever.

My Review
5 Brilliant, Beautiful, Amazing Stars!

Okay I bloody loved this book! It was just amazing and I know that I will deffo be re-reading this one day because that's how good it was..Anddd into my favourites it goes ;)

Do you want a funny yet moving, gripping, awesome read? Yeah? GO READ THIS BOOK NOW! :D

I loved how different this book was to the normal cliche books I seem to keep picking up.this book evoked emotion, laughter, joy, sadness and much more.I was taken on a journey and I got lost in the pages, I lived and wanted to stay in this book forever. The magical setting of a circus was brilliant and I am so glad I read this book!

You meet Daisy and find out that she is getting married to someone she hasn't met..She doesn't want to get married but her father has had enough of her and forces her to get married to a man he picked out.Its basically an arrangement which her father has set up. She goes along with it as she doesn't have any money to do anything else and he believes she owes him. When you first meet Alex I was like eh? wait is he going to be the main character? wow I didn't know what to think or expect.

‘She dug her nails into her palms and told herself she had no choice. "I, Theodosia..." She gulped for air. "...take thee Alexander..." She gulped again. "...to be my awful wedded husband...”

Daisy thinks she can get out of the arrangement which is for 6 months, if she leaves Alex before that time her father will have nothing to do with her and she wont have any money to do anything.Deciding that the only way out is to make a deal with her so called husband who treats her like a spoiled brat.He pays half the money her father paid him for marriage and they go their own ways and her father wouldn't know anything. That plan fails when he declines and they end up at the circus.

"We can do this easy, or we can do it rough. Either way, I'm going to win. You decide how it'll be."

Alex is such an arsehole at times but his comments made me laugh, his past made me want to squeeze him and never let go.He is hard on Daisy , pushing her way beyond her limits and trying to make her crack.the quicker she understands she can't handle being with him the easier it would be on Alex. For him the marriage isn't a real marriage just an arrangement, just a favour and nothing more.

“Well alright then," His eyes glittered. "I get my kicks whipping woman I have sex with and you're next on my list. Now I'm going to take a shower.”

Daisy has always seen marriage as a sacred bond and she is willing to make this work no matter how much Alex pushes her, she is strong, stubborn and won't give up that easily.I love their bickering and how amusing they were.Being with Alex changes Daisy for the better he pushes her makes her work hard, feel confident and stronger.

Daisy is perfect for Alex, someone who feels he can't love due to his past. She is loving, caring and patient with him, she is the opposite of him and that works, he needs someone soft and caring rather than strong willed, arrogant and well you know..too much like him! I Love love loved Alex! I want more, I really didn't want it to end and I couldn't stop reading,I was up late at night totally captured by this book.

“I don't love you anymore", she whispered. "I don't love you at all." His throat closed. "It's all right, sweetheart. I love you enough for both of us.”

Oh and how could I forget the amazing animals who have their own place in my heart! I loved all the animals (I just realised I missed out the gorilla damn it!) they represented many of the characters in a way, they were caged whether it was by their pride, their greed or their loved ones. Lots of the characters like the animals were lonely all they needed was one person to look at them differently, to care about then, to see them and love them.

This was my first SEP book and it definitely wont be my last!

He slammed a fist into the nearest tree trunk. Again. Again. Pain ricocheted through his hand, down his arm, and fed his breaking heart. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught her silhouette standing a few yards away. A slender shadow, shrouded by darkness. And in her raised arms, she held a gun, trained on him.
He threw another fist. Absorbed the burn. Expelled the rancor. He knew she was holding a gun on him to prevent him from running and putting her family at further risk. Regardless, she
wouldn’t shoot him. Not because she needed a slave, but because she loved what was hers with a
self-destructing passion. He faced her and held out his arms. “I’m yours.”
The girl and the gun didn’t move.

“Lose the damned mask and stop hiding from me.” He raked his throbbing hands through his hair. “Scream, cry, hit something. Hit me. But for God’s sake, let it out.”

The shadowy lines of her body wavered. The gun lowered, returned to her boot.He stretched out his arms, savoring the cool breeze brushing over his unrestrained skin. “I stand here without rope or chains, Liv, tethered to you by my own will.” His blood beat with the ferocity of his words. “I won’t be free until you are.”
Her head jerked back, her body rigid. Then she walked straight to him and unleashed her fists on his chest. She clobbered him over and over, her gasps accelerating with each fall of her hand. The lashing didn’t hurt. Not like the whimpers rising from her chest. She was hurting, lashing out for the wrongs that had been done to her. A sharp pain swelled in his throat. The only thing he could do was take it in, try to bear some of it for her. He held his arms out and his body open. When her hits ebbed into weak slaps, she stumbled back, hugging herself and clutching her elbows. His heartbeat slogged through the ache in his chest. He kept his arms outstretched and
whispered, “I’m here.”

REVIEW
4.5 Stars!

Wow I did not expect this, okay I will be honest I thought I would hate this book because I am sick of all the slave books with similar story lines so I was dreading this thinking ohh god this is going to take me ages to read and I will be bored..i was sooo WRONG!!
I want to go back in time and slap the negativity right out of myself pft!

This is my first Pam Godwin book so I was skeptical and didn't know what to expect.Well let me say Pam Godwin sucked me right in and never let go.Took me on a roller-coaster of highs and lows that had me heart racing, hurting and trying to leap out of my chest! This is the first book I am reading where the male is the captive and I am surprised at how much I liked it as usually role reversal kind of puts me off.I loved the complexity of the characters and how they challenged me.Many times throughout the book I was thinking hmm..what would I do in that situation?

She was stolen innocence, following the rules of monsters. Somewhere along the way, she'd become one.

When I started this book and read about Joshua Carter, a honest man with so much going for him, his family, his friends I was like oh noo! I was just dreading it and thinking oh I am going to hate Liv the deliverer.Knowing that Joshua was an innocent virgin boy driving to his destruction I just didn't want to read more but no I forced myself to keep reading because I needed to know what the fuss was about and if it would be a boring story-line or what! Curiosity kept me going and I am so glad it did because everything happened the opposite as I was assuming would happen and I really did like Liv's character.

This book challenges your beliefs and shows how some people are unwilling monsters, they don't want to be but sometimes it the only way to survive is to become a monster. It shows how far people are willing to go for loved ones. Makes you question whether all monsters are redeemable or maybe they have no hope?

The job, the job, the job. Focus on the job. Be the job. Or else. It was all she was, a mechanical, hollow nothing that did anything needed to prevent the else.

Liv has a job to do, after taking Joshua she needs to train him to become a slave to be sold to the client. But Joshua isn't like the rest she has delivered he has a family who will look for him, he is pure and honest and maybe Liv didn't take him for the job maybe she took him for herself. He has everything that she will never have and they have a connection right from the start.

Okay one character I had mixed feelings about was Van.Oh Van you sadistic prick! I wanted to kill him, he really freaked me out especially the bloody weird fetish he has with mannequins *shudders*
All the things he has done and for so long really?

“Someday, I hope to matter to you, because you are the only one who matters to me. You will always be mine, Liv.”

Can it all really be forgiven and forgotten just like that? When I heard his story I was like Damn! Why you gotto confuse me like that? now I don't know what to feel.I think I understood some part of him, he was basically lost and alone and he seemed to think Liv could save him.He thought he loved Liv and that she would eventually love him back and somehow heal him? I don't even know why I am making excuses for him! Okay I may have felt a little sorry for him and can't wait to read his own book ;)

If you are looking for a book filled with suspense, twists, romance and much more this is definitely one for you!

Review/Giveaway: Strapped Down (Strapped #2) By Nina.G.Jones

Book 1: Strapped (My Review)
Book 2: Strapped Down (Review Below)

Synopsis
The much anticipated second installment of the Strapped Trilogy, Strapped Down picks up where the first installment concluded.

Eric is not going down without a fight, but Shyla and Taylor are willing to go to equally dark lengths to make him pay for his betrayal. In their quest to seek revenge and find happiness, deeply guarded secrets from their pasts begin to surface, revealing they are linked to each other in ways they could never have imagined.

For every secret they uncover, another seems to surface as they find themselves raveled in a web that extends much further than the confines of the darkroom. As Shyla and Taylor become more entwined with each other, she learns that Taylor’s dark side is far more dangerous than she believed. Will Shyla continue to follow Taylor into the darkness, or is he far too gone for her light to shine through?

Note: This is not a stand alone novel. Strapped (book 1) should be read before Strapped Down.

My Review

3.5-4 WTF-Just-Happened Stars!!

I am torn! I don't know what to think anymore, the ending was like Whaaaaattt!! will someone tell me whats going on? I'm confused and lost..I need answers to all the questions that are going around in my head.

This book starts off where book 1 finished where Eric is at Shyla's apartment. At the end of book 1 I was shocked and like omg everything is so messed up.I never expected things to get much worse but helloo book 2 and welcome to hell!

So many twists, lies, betrayal and much more.By the end of this book I was speechless and I had goosebumps. The way I felt about the characters kind of changed dramatically and I really don't know where they stand.

After the encounter with Eric, Taylor comes and after discussing the danger and the situation Eric has put them in they formulate a plan which will help in keeping Eric as far away from them and he wont be able to cause them problems.Okay I was all for getting rid of Eric when I found out what happened in book one but this one things were different. Was the masked man really Eric? If not who the hell is this guy!! Omg what if it was Taylor and this was all a ploy to get rid of Eric? Ohhh the questions and answers? Where are you?!

You find out more about Taylors mother as Shyla finds new information, and also a link between Taylor and Shyla. After her mother reveals some vital info more secrets begin to unfold.unfold. Shyla and Taylor's relationship is a struggle at times he is really closed off in matters and it infuriated me.I think Shyla should have told him about his mother a while back but Taylor's response made me take a step back.

Okay Taylor, oh what to say about him! I thought he was a good guy with problems after the past he had who could blame him right? But by the end of this book I'm not sure what to think of him? Did his past make him evil? He isn't that little boy anymore but his past will always be a large part of him.I just don't know what to think.

'He is infected'

The first half of the book was a little slow for my liking but the last half was fast, gripping and I couldn't stop reading.I can't wait to see how this story unfolds and what more is to come.

Blog Tour/Giveaway: Beautiful Failure By Mariah Cole

Title: Beautiful Failure
Author: Mariah Cole
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:December 17, 2013

If you're looking for a heartwarming story about a girl who falls deeply in love with a troubled boy who changes her life--a sob story with pretty metaphors and a million ways that'll tell you how "broken" she is, STOP. Don't read another word of this.

I'm not that type of girl.

My name is Emerald Anderson and I'm not going to bullshit you: I flunked out of college after my sophomore year, I've been fired from every job I've ever taken, and I've never had a fully functioning relationship in my life.

I wish I could say that I had a cheerleader in my corner, someone who says, "No, Emerald--You're great and you are good at something!" but I don't. My grandparents are completely oblivious to my life, and my mother's dying words to me were "You're going to end up just like me one day. A beautiful nothing."

She was right.

As I decide to start my life over and take two jobs that will forever change me--one from the inside, and one from the outside, I keep my mother's words close to my heart so I can keep the sexy and mysterious Carter Black away.

He's the first man who's ever pursued me, the first man who seems bent on finding out why I am the way I am, but he's wasting his time.

I'm not broken. I don't need to be fixed. I'm perfectly fine being a beautiful failure...
