Review: Archer's Voice By Mia Sheridan

Synopsis

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

My Review
5 Unforgettable Stars!

This is the first book I have read by Mia Sheridan and I totally want to smack myself because I have had two other books by her and never got round to reading them. After getting this one recommended a few times I decided enough is enough and this shall be my next read. And how bloody glad I am that I did end up reading it because this is one amazing book!

The characters, the story, the emotions and the beauty of silence. This book made me feel so much and left me craving more.I just really didn't want it to end and I want more so yeah this will definitely be one of the books on my re-read pile and one I need as a paperback. So I can..stroke the pages and hold it.Hey I'm not weird..I know lots of you do the same so don't you be judging me! :D

“We communicated a thousand words, without a single one being spoken."

If you haven't read this book you really need to! Like now! This story will leave you swooning, crying, laughing and best of all falling in love and wishing you could curl up inside this book and never come out. I don't know what to tell you about this book without giving too much away, it's just one of those book that you should go in blind.Don't read lots of reviews and spoilers and what not.Just read the book and experience it without have preconceived ideas about how it will turn out.Just jump in with both feet and let the story unfold and let it take you on a beautiful journey.

"He smiled back and put his lips against mine, mouthing, "I love you, too," against my mouth, as if he was breathing love into my body."

Archer's Voice is about two lonely characters and when their paths meet so does their souls. Both with tragic pasts that they haven't let go of and a will to carry on. Archer Hale made my heart melt! I can't put into words how he made me feel because there were just too many emotions. I loved Bree and Archer together and how they strengthened each other but also as individuals.

The majority of this book is written in Bree's POV but we also get flashbacks of Archer's past and a little bit from his POV. This is a standalone and even though it is a part of a series it can be read separately as the books are based on different characters.

"I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don't know how. Teach me, Bree. Please teach me. Don't let me destroy this." He looked at me beseechingly, pain etched into every feature of his face.

Oh God, Archer, I thought, my heart squeezing tightly in my chest. How do you teach a man who has lost everything, not to fear it happening again?

I would highly recommend this book! And Mia Sheridan I will be reading EVERY book you write ;) A book that shows you how you don't need words to describe your feeling, you don't need a voice to express your love..Sometimes the silence speaks louder than words. You don't need a voice to create change, you need determination, will and a whole lot of love.

Review: Destroyed By Pepper Winters

Synopsis
She has a secret.
I’m complicated. Not broken or ruined or running from a past I can’t face. Just complicated.

I thought my life couldn’t get any more tangled in deceit and confusion. But I hadn’t met him. I hadn't realized how far I could fall or what I'd do to get free.

He has a secret.
I’ve never pretended to be good or deserving. I chase who I want, do what I want, act how I want.
I didn’t have time to lust after a woman I had no right to lust after. I told myself to shut up and stay hidden. But then she tried to run. I’d tasted what she could offer me and damned if I would let her go.
One secret destroys them.

My Review
4 Tortured, Destroyed Stars!!

I don't know what to say, this book left me emotionally drained and so damn depressed. It was absolutely not what I thought it would be like, it was different and messed up.I wanted to read it really fast but had a few breaks, I was intrigued to see how the story would develop and what would happen yet I needed a break to think about rainbows and shit. Some parts were so damn depressing and the emotional parts there were a lot but..that one part that I really didn't want to happen..damn it! Broke my heart!!

"His presence made me forget everything but him. He took over my world. He was an eclipse."

A story of 2 lonely people who find each other when everything is going downhill. A tortured hero who can't let go the only woman who has made him feel anything. A strong woman who is struggling to cope with what the present and future holds. She thought he would be her escape from pain but life isn't fair and most things never work out as planned.

Pain brings them together, Pain makes feel alive, Pain makes her stronger.

This is Hazel and Fox's story, its not an ordinary story, its unique, raw and makes you feel so much that in parts you wished you couldn't feel at all. When Hazel step into an illegal fight club with her best friend and comes across the mysterious, dark, powerful owner Obsidian Fox everything changes. She is drawn to him, this is the first time she has felt anything like this but she can't act on her intense need for him.No, she has much important things to worry about.

But it seems like she isn't the only one feeling this pull, this need because Fox is feeling it too. After years of not wanting or needing anyone this takes his by surprise and he decides he wants her but that when things go wrong. Never having dated or had a normal relationship he goes about it all wrong and offers her money to stay with him making Hazel feel like a whore. But she really needs the money and she wont get an offer like this again so she takes it but later does she realises she is in way over her head.

But the moment I walked into Obsidian, the taste of violence rejuvenated me-- reminding me I was a fighter, and I would win. I just wished I could've avoided the catalyst that destroyed me.

Him.
Obsidian Fox.

Obsidian Fox is a tortured man, he keeps to himself and isn't around people. He can't be touched which really doesn't help matters. After having a horrific past and being kidnapped and trained to be an assassin as a child when someone touches him it brings back everything they drilled into his head.To kill. He can't run from his past its all around him, he needs help and Hazel sees something passed the aggressive killer.A lonely boy whose childhood was ripped apart, someone needing to be loved but can she help him or will she just be destroyed in the process.

This is a well written book that focuses on a dark tortured characters, a page turner and a story which will leave you thanking Pepper Winters for that HEA because if this had a sad ending I was going to kill someone. It HAD to be happy or else..

The dual POV was killing me at times, I just couldn't decide if I wanted to kill fox/Hazel or admire them sometimes. His POV made me all sad and I felt so sorry for him and then from Hazel's POV its all just really fucked up.And damn it they annoyed me at times the whole communication problems and Hazel keeping secrets I was screaming in my head at her to TELL HIM NOWWW! it made me want to pull my hair out! Overall it was a great story and I am looking forward to what Pepper Winters will release next!

Review: Fear of falling By S.L.Jennings

Synopsis
I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn't bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I've run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn't run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn't the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn't the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

“Don’t worry,” he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. “I’ve got you. I’ll always catch you when you fall.”

And just like that, Blaine had staked his claim on the untouched part of me that no living soul had ever moved. He had captured every fear, every reservation, and crushed them in the palm of his inked hand.

My Review

Fear(Noun)

An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

Everyone is scared of something we all fear things it may be simple as fear of heights and spiders to fear that gets a lot more irrational..fear or falling..fear of feeling too deeply..fear of love..
I believe something in your past has to trigger this fear (rational or irrational)..And that's how it is for Kami.

I didn't really know how to rate this book, it had me feeling so many emotions, so yeah hats off to S.L. Jennings because I felt it all, the anger, the frustration, the sadness, I was swept away with it.

“Life may not be pretty but it's always beautiful. We may only see the ugliness on the surface. The shit that only the world chooses to notice. But, if we dig deep, if we get to the heart of life, where there's no pain or fear, where we can just be who we are and love freely without judgement, it's really beautiful.”

Blaine and Kami's relationship goes through so much up and downs its like just when its getting good, just when you think things will start to improve..BOOM! Its all gone and its back to square one.
Both Blaine and Kami are broken souls just getting through life merely surviving until their lives crash together..

Blaine is a successful owner of a bar and is captured by Kami as soon as he sets his eyes on her.He just knows that she is different in all the right ways.He falls head over heels for her and this man is bloody awesome! He never gives up on her even when she pushes him away so many times. Ahh Blaine you beautiful man covered in tattoos and piercings yet he is such a softy he has a big heart and all he wants is to take away all of Kami's pain. But life doesn't work like that and you cant save everyone..

You're not scared of the dark.

You're scared of what's in it.

You're not afraid of heights.
You're afraid of falling.

You're not afraid of the people around you.
You're afraid of rejection.

You're not afraid to love
You're afraid of not being loved back

You're not afraid to let go
You're just afraid to accept the reality that it's gone

You're not afraid to try again
You're afraid of getting hurt for the same reason

“I never give up on things I want. This… you and me… it’s inevitable. There’s no use in fighting, Kami. It’s going to happen. And when you are madly in love with me, the only thing you’ll regret is not falling for me sooner.”

Blaine was just perfect <3 He thought of everything and just kept on fighting for her..

Now Kami's character was soo complex with the self loathing and the abuse and all her fears.

"My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want."

I got it why she was how she was and all the issues.Sometimes when you hear something being said to you so many times as a child. you end up believing it. You think its the truth. She associated love with terror, pain, abuse, hurt, anger and Fear

And my heart ached for her she really had been through hell and back.
But still in parts of this book Kami really pissed me off I just wanted to slap shake her and make her see what everyone else was seeing!
I hated that she pushed Blaine away C'mon the guy can only take so much rejection!! I wanted her to get over herself and for once think about what he must be feeling. She was really selfish and I know she was scared but she isn't the only one with problems..

But hey I get it your cognitive process isn't the same you change, abuse changes you and makes you think negatively which was the problem with Kami..She always had that doubt and that fear. Her demons haunted her daily..

"...just remember, the storm doesn't last forever. It can scare you; it can shake you to your core. But it never lasts. The rain subsides, the thunder dies, and the winds calm to a soft whisper. And that moment after the storm clouds pass, when all is silent and still, you find peace. Quiet, gentle peace.”

I loved Dom, please tell me he gets a book, pleeaaaassssseeeee!!
He needs to find someone aww he needs some love!
Overall a great book, a heartbreaking story about struggle and falling.. falling deep in love..
