Review: The Air He Breathes (Elements #1) by Brittainy C. Cherry

Synopsis
I was warned about Tristan Cole.
“Stay away from him,” people said.
“He’s cruel.”
“He’s cold.”
“He’s damaged.”

It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.

But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.

We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.

Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.

My Review
4.5 Beautiful Stars!

I loved this book, it's just what I needed after reading some meh, okay ish books that really didn't do it for me.I need to firstly mention that I adore this authors books and writing, it's just amazing! You just don't expect the things that happen to happen and I have been meaning to review a book of hers. Every time something happens and I totally forget or I'm so busy I don't get a chance but this time I said to myself, as soon as you finish you will review this book even if its a short review so here it goes ;)

'People in town called him an asshole, and I could see why. He wasn’t nice, he wasn’t stable, and he was broken in all of the wrong and right places.'

I heard this was an emotional read and a lot of people had written in places they cried and I have got to agree it did have the heavy emotional bits that ripped you apart but there was so much more, it was funny, sweet, raw and beautiful. The author did a brilliant job and I vow to never put off any more of Brittainy C. Cherry's book that I download!

"No soulmate leaves the world alone; they always take a piece f their other half long with them."

This is a book about two people who have gone through a hard time and lost loved ones, it changes people. It can turn some into monsters, it can cause you to become closed off and shut down or it can change you for the better. Death changes people, you never come out the same. But you have to always remember that everything happens for a reason.

"Tristan?"

"Yes?"
"Kiss Me?"

I don't want to go into detail about it because I think people need to stop reading synopsis and just kind of jump into books and find out for themselves. Experience it without reading what its about or knowing exactly what you will be stepping into. This book does have twists you don't see coming and basically I want more. The main characters were great even supporting characters I want Faye to have her own story. Tristan and Faye's shit burning seen was frikin hilarious!

'During the light days, we held each other close.During the dark days, we held each other closer.'

The one thing that made me mad was near the end half. Tristan you do not do that, that was messed up. I understood why he went and why he needed to but no communication? So abruptly without calmly thinking things through and I get it things where pretty crazy but being in Lizzie's position I don't know if I could be that forgiving but other than that it was awesome and I'm looking forward for more!!

Review: A Perfect Ten (Forbidden Men, #5) by Linda Kage

Synopsis

Let your hair down, Caroline, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

I know I've closed myself off in a major way over the past year, ever since “the incident” where I messed up my life completely. It's past time I try to live again or just give up altogether. But this is quite possibly the craziest thing I've ever done. In a last ditch effort to invigorate myself, I'm standing outside Oren Tenning's bedroom, I just peeled off the sexiest pair of underwear I own, and my hand is already raised to knock. My brother would disown me for doing anything with his best friend, and he'd probably kill Oren. But if I play my cards right, no one will ever know about this. Not even Ten.

Maybe after tonight, I’ll finally get over this stupid, irrational crush I hate having on the biggest jerk I’ve ever met. Or maybe I’ll just end up falling for him even harder. Maybe I’ll discover there’s so much more to my crude, carefree hunk than meets the eye

My Review

5 Perfect Stars!!

"You're seriously breaking all my rules. You know that right?"
Her smile just grew.
"I'm beginning to get a clue"

Linda Kage continues to blow me away.As soon as I start any book of hers I just can't stop until I have finished it.So yeah all yesterday I was sneaking around trying to get a little extra reading in because I needed more, I just couldn't put it down and then wait this is the worst part..it ended! How fukin dare it end when I'm not done with it yet? I wanted it to carry on for at least 300 pages more or forever..that works too.

I was already a Caroline fan since I met her in Quinn's book, I'm not sure if she is in any other book I started the series from Be my hero and need to read the previous two books. And Ten was always a joker, at times rude and annoying but I always knew there would be more to him. LK made me fall in love with Oren so hard and gave this book a bit of everything. At times I was laughing out loud and the next on the verge of tears. Caroline was funny and obviously Oren was bloody hilarious, at times he said inappropriate things and still made them sound sweet and adorable!

“What the fuck have you done to me Caroline? … Why couldn’t I stay away from you? … Why can’t I get enough of you? … What do I want to own every fucking piece of you?”

There were so many parts I wasn't expecting I went in kind of thinking it would be angsty and Caroline and Oren would be going back and forth, not knowing what they wanted. It wasn't like that, there was s much more to it.And finally Caroline's past all made sense and so did Oren's. There was such a deep sadness in his life, he was constantly battling it all, yet you would have never have known because he was so good at hiding it. You look at him and see this happy go lucky character, the class clown, not someone who has a big part of himself hidden even from his closest friends.

I can not wait to carry on with this series even though I'm not sure who this next character is but Linda Kage is awesome and I'm sure I will love whoever this Knox guy is as well, another author whose books will be ones I need to buy in paperback one day! I would definitely re-read them, well I have already re-read Picks book ;)

EXCERPT

His heart beat like a drum—fast and hard and loud.
His breath blew strong like a windstorm, his chest contracting with his harsh pants.
Fear seeped from his bones, from every cell of his being, his hands shaking like a leaf and sweat dropped from his hot skin.
"Welcome to hell, boy."
These four words greeted Boy as he was brutally propelled into a dank basement by a hugely built guard. Everywhere was black; the blackest of black. The guards wore black, the walls of the truck that had brought him here was black, the sky outside was black and the windowless room they now stood in, black. The stagnant air was humid and thick, the temperature in the room, scalding. The stench of slick grease, sweat, and something more putrid burned Boy's nostrils making him retch and his feet stuck to the sticky, grimy ground.
Hell, Boy thought, considering the guard’s words. It was a living breathing hell.
Then the guard pushed him again, this time down a steep, slippery staircase, dull lights sunken into the walls. The high brick walls were a browning-yellowing color and ancient fans whined in the background vainly attempting to cool the too-hot air. Overhead pipes steadily dripped raw sewage on the concrete floor and rats and other vermin swarmed around his feet.
The place was a shithole.
Once again, a heavy hand pushed Boy's back, thrusting him down a narrow hallway. With every step, Boy could hear his breath echo louder in his ears. With every step, he could feel his pounding heart slam harder in his chest at an almost bruising rate. And with every step, he could hear more and more loudly a raucous cacophony coming from straight ahead, just beyond a thick-looking iron door. People were screaming and jeering, accompanied by the unmistakable sound of metal clanging against metal.
Boy’s eyes were wide as he stared at the door, his nostrils flaring with terror. Nothing in this place screamed ‘safe’; in fact, with every new turn all he felt was pure terror.
The guard reached around Boy; loudly and slowly he knocked twice on the iron door, each knock thudding through his chest like a canon. Locks unbolted, keys jingled, and finally, the iron door cracked open.
Boy's eyes widened in disbelief as he drank in the scene. Grown men were everywhere in the overcrowded room. There wasn’t a spare inch free, sweaty bodies pushing and shoving one another from thick wall to thick wall. The men were drinking vodka, exchanging money, hands waving in excitement as they all faced straight ahead, their focus set on something just ahead.
"Move, boy," the guard ordered. Boy dragged his feet, reluctant to step across the threshold into “hell.” But he couldn’t move. He was frozen to the spot, his legs shaking and a dizziness spun in his head.
Gripping the scruff of Boy's neck, the guard tightened his hold, making Boy wince as he was steered aggressively through the baying crowd. Grown men stopped and sized up Boy, some in approval, most in dismissal. They all became a blur to Boy, the sight and smells too much for him to process.
Boy felt faint. His lungs burned with the velocity of his short breaths. Boy's fingers shook in sympathy with his fear, but he shook his head, cleared his fearful thoughts like his father had taught him to do and he managed to keep his head held high, meeting the owner of each curious stare right in the eye.
As the crowd slowly parted, Boy startled at the scene in front of him—a huge floor-to-ceiling square steel cage, the tops wrapped with sharp razor wire, with flashes of movement coming from within. Pained grunts and spurts of blood escaped the cage, splattering his gray-uniformed chest and bare face. This time no breath came from his lungs at all. He was frozen; frozen on the spot with shock, the tinny scent of blood invading his nose.
Boy couldn’t believe his eyes. Could not digest the sight that greeted him: pain, cut flesh, cries, blood… so much pain and blood.
Suddenly, a wash of putrid breath blew past his ear. Boy flinched as he inhaled the sickening stench of stale food and acrid tobacco smoke.
"Drink it in, boy. That will be you in the cage before too long."
Boy held his breath until his chest could take no more. He exhaled sharply, resisting the urge to cough or cry out.
Boy had been taught from a very young age never to show emotion. His father would punish him if he dared complain, never mind cry. He refused to start here and now. Boy resolved to remain composed, lugubrious, and stoic anything he had to be to get through this… this, whatever the hell it was.
A loud rip sounded from the cage, the sound slicing down his back and bringing vomit to his mouth. As a huge spectator abruptly moved out of the way smiling in celebration, everything became clear. The fighters in the cage were kids… boys who looked no older than himself.
And they were fighting… to the death…

MY REVIEW
5 I Love Raze Stars!!

“Whatever our souls are made of—“

“His and mine are the same...”

I was so excited to get my hands on this book.Just read the bloody synopsis and tell me does it not make you want the book, like right now? I'm so happy I got an arc, I just knew I would love this one. Tillie Cole can you quit blowing me away with your awesome books? This book is awesome, one of those books you can not stop reading and you are up all night and you never want it to finish.

I don't want to give anything away, you just need to grab this book and hold on tight because it will be one hell of a roller-coaster ride. I was captivated and hooked from the first page and fell in love with Raze. My heart hurt for him and also for Kisa. They belonged together and always would. No matter what happened they would eventually find each other.

“You’re Raze, you’re death. Let’s fucking Raze hell!”

A boy who was turned into a killing machine.A girl who had to adapt to brutality and abuse to survive. Raze was turned into a monster but he once had a life, he is sure he did.He just can't remember it anymore. He only knows one thing, he needs revenge. He will kill the man who put him in a cage, who made him who he is.Who turned him into nothing, he would finally get revenge.

'I killed because I had to. I had no other choice. I was already dead, no more than a number; stripped of morals, stripped of freedom and stripped of life. I was an animal conditioned to inflict pain without remorse. And you cannot kill someone who has no soul.'

I was clutching on and waiting to see what would happen next. This book made me feel, too many emotions and I wanted to save both Kisa and Raze.Their parts made my heart melt aww! Raze was just perfect!! Ahh I don't even know what to say, I'm lost for words.

Kisa was also a great character and she was put in some horrible situations an proved to be a survivor. They were always meant to be together, they fit like two jig-saw puzzles. The chemistry, the feelings ah just everything. I loved how the story came together, the twists and turns and the characters. Tillie Cole give me more!! Highly recommend this book. Can not wait to read more books by this author, I am addicted :D

5 I-LOVE-THIS-SERIES Stars

Okay when I heard that The Remedy would be the end of the Devil's Eyes series I was quite upset..quite upset being an understatement.I didn't want the series to finish and I will always want more.ALWAYS! But then Jennifer Loren announced that there would be more to this series and I was like WHAT?! Hell yeah!Oh btw I get this news way before everyone else..not that I'm bragging or anything.Just putting it out there ;) I love being in JL's street team! So whilst I was screaming and doing a happy dance JL was writing away another master piece. This book was awesome, I need more..like yesterday woman!

This book kind of breaks off from Nick and his side of things. He is still in the book but its main focus is Ryan and Elijah.I love how other people's povs are cleverly placed which gave me a better idea of what is going on yet, the povs, they don't overwhelm you.

Ryan has always lived in Nick's shadows, he loves him and looks up to him but he needs to move on and pave his own path. So even though moving away from the family is tough he decides its time to take over a new place and be his own boss.Make his own rules. And to help out he has Elijah and an unexpected bodyguard, Skylar.

"My Lord," She says, bowing to me.

"Oh son of a bitch," I grumble

Skylar is a women out to prove herself.By guarding Ryan she wants to show that women aren't weak and they can handle the tough life. Before she gets to where Ryan is now living she thinks she has it all figured out, she thinks Ryan has been spoiled and rich all his life and he will behave just like all other Savages. But when she gets there she finds out how wrong she is.There is alot more to Skylar we discover as the story continues..

'I can't stop staring at his penis and it begins to make him nervous.

"Baby, are you planning to cut me dick off or something, cause you are making me really nervous staring at it like you are?"

Ryan doesn't need anyone to protect him especially not a hot, annoying woman he can't keep his eyes off.I loved Ryan and Skylar's parts maybe a littllleeeeee bit more than Eli and Catriona's parts. They were hilarious together and well that's Ryan ahh I fell more in love with him! Maybe its because we already had the Eli and Cat thing going on in previous book so this was something new and I just wanted to keep reading their parts.

“Hmm… should I follow alongside or get in with you?” “Follow alongside? Who are you, Usain Bolt? Get in the damn car.” She nods..

Elijah and Catriona have their own problems along with helping Ryan out.Eli is determined to love Catriona and give her everything she wishes for but things aren't that easy. His humour was as always present and I loved that about him.

"Actually, the best part was when we stopped running and Eli asked me to hold his boob while he pulled up his stockings."

Hahaha I loved this part of the book and their funny stories. Could not contain my laughter.

We meet new people, lose some old people, discover new secret, betrayals and twists! I laughed out loud..whilst everyone sleeping I'm sure if everyone was awake they would be like, what a weirdo but they weren't so hah!Highly recommended series sooo go get started on the previous books if you haven't already ;)

Omg the ending!!!! I was like YES YES!!!!!! HELL YEAH.I wanted to scream because I had so much feelings and I wanted to discuss..but my friends haven't even read it yet so i just hi5'd myself and tried keep my emotions in lock. The sad truth. I want more. When can I get more?

Oh and I won a paperback so it shall be hugged and it will sleep with me.There may even be stroking ;)

It Ain’t Me, Babe

Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever…
Salome knows only one way to live—under Prophet David’s rule. My Review
5 Unexpected, Brilliant Stars!!

Wow this book was something else! I really wasn't expecting this but when I first read the review I knew I had to read this. After reading a few books with a slow build up I was wishing this wouldnt be the same. And oh my god it was different all right.First page in and boom I knew this would be totally awesome ;)

The prologue..oh that prologue had me totally excited and blown away and so many other feelings!

Tillie Cole you are awesome, I absolutely loved the writing, how it drew me in and kept me hooked right until the end and even after that since I want more! Please tell me there will be more because this is so series material because I need the other characters in this book to have their own book.

"It Ain’t Me, Babe’ was inspired by the testimonies of ex-members from several NRM’s and the leaders that abused the power they had over their members—especially the women.

The female protagonist in this novel, ‘Salome’, endures situations inspired by real events told to me personally by survivors of such groups. Addressing this topic was very important to me, as it is an area of life, of humanity, in which most people are unaware.

Victims of these ‘opportunist’ groups are often not given a voice, and I wanted to give the many women I was so fortunate to meet, a chance to be heard." - Tillie Cole

After reading this I was totally intrigued and whilst reading this book I kept thinking of what I would do if I was in this situation and how strong these people are who have been put into such torturous situations and how they are true survivors.I'm so glad Tillie Cole gave these victims a voice it really goes to show how unaware we are of the happening of the world.

This book starts off in the past where too people who are struggling with circumstances meet and create a beautiful memory in a place filled with sin.Two innocent souls meet where evil resides.

"Wh-what i-is this p-p-p-place? D-d-do you... l-l-live h-here?" I stuttered, occasionally pausing and thinking through my words as I struggled to push them out." - River

It all begins when Styx and Salome (“Mae”) first meet. Styx is only eleven and she is eight. This one meeting binds them, it is a meeting they will always remember. Styx stumbles upon Mae one day whilst his father does business, he finds her behind a fence, crying and he wants to make her feel better. But she can't understand his sign language and he has only ever smoke to his father and best friend Ky.It's like the words get stuck in his throat, like he is being chocked when he tries to speak. But he tries for the little innocent girl who is crying behind bars.He doesn't see how his presence make the pain she is feeling go away for a while. He doesn't understand why she is behind that fence and at that time she probably doesn't either..

Fifteen years later you see Mae trying to escape the facility who has tortured her all her life. She breaks and runs, she needs to escape no matter what happens she can't live there anymore.Whilst escaping she is injured and ends up unconscious outside Hangmen MC compound.

When Styx sees her he is shocked, its the girl he was going mental over and after years of trying to find her he began to believe that he had imagined her.Now here she is right in front of him all he needs is for her to recognise him. Mae wakes up and sees that she isn't where she blacked out and she doesnt know what to do.She has always been told that the outside people are evil so then why were they helping her?
Seeing the little boy from her past now a man changes things. Styx has to go on a job and leaves Mae behind with a MC brother Rider.

Styx was sin; Rider was peace.

Styx tries to stay away from her as he battles his own demons. She is innocent and he has sinned many times, she deserves someone better but maybe it was fate that brought two lost souls together in the past and will again bind them.

I don't want to give anything else away you just have to read it and experience everything! Absolutely brilliant, touching book about courage and an escape for freedom.Dark, gritty, emotionally moving and will leave you craving more.I really didn't expect some of the twists, I was shocked! But its just so good I definitely recommend this to everyone!

“I thought you said, ‘it ain’t you who’s meant for me’?”
He laughed. He rarely laughed, but when he did, I rejoiced at the sound of it: husky, deep…male. “Oh, it’s me, babe…Ain’t no other man for you…but me.”

Oh and please please please tell me Flame is getting his own book..Ahhhh I want it!

My Review

5 Awesome, Unique, Hilarious Stars!!

I can't believe I didn't read this book sooner! *Smacks self* My friends were telling me how good this book is and all I saw was YA and then told myself ahh I will read it another time since I am not in the mood for a YA.I grew out of YA I guess well thats what I kept telling myself until I read it. Hellooooo new favourite book! This book was just brilliant!

“She was probably a trusting, naïve girl before him, like a daisy. And then he came, and pulled her petals off one by one, forcing her to surround herself with thorns to survive. But he missed one petal. And she guards it with a tiger's ferocity.”

Oh and this cover? I totally love it! I could sit here and write about all the different ways you could interpret the cover and how it links with the book and blah blah but I'm sure you would be so bored reading all that so, lets get down to it ;)

“How did you find me? If you hacked into the Club’s computer to look up my appointments - "

“Whoa, I think you overestimate me, shitlord. Last time I checked all I did was be in the wrong place at the right time. I saw you and had to - ”
“Stalk me.”
“ - delicately approach you. In a sideways manner. From behind. Without being seen at all. For ten minutes.”

Isis Blake has recently moved houses to help her mum move on from her bad relationship she just got out with. It's also moving on from what happened with Isis's past relationship with Nameless <--Yup that's what he shall be called. You see Isis used to be fat and pretty miserable, and things with nameless left her feeling like she was ugly and rather depressed. But thats all in the past now she has lost weight and is at a party where she comes face to face with the Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince.

And offers me a black rose.
"I figured you'd hate flowers, so I decided to get one that matched your soul" He says. I take the flower, careful not to touch any of his long finger.”

Jack Hunter is hot, smart and it looks like he pretty much has it all. Cold, focused and only dating older women as the rumors go but never anyone from school, so yeh everyone wants a piece of him. He isn't a normal, he was pretty much a heartless arsehole and then he meets Isis..Anddd she punches him. Great first meeting I tell you and it only gets better when she declares war! You're probably thinking oh pftt he turns all nice and they get together blah blah..WRONG! He is an arsehole you end up loving because he is an arsehole..A clever hot funny arsehole but still an arsehole..ya get me? ;)

“Did you have fun? How many boys did you make out with?” She asks. “Seventy. At least.” “How many shots did you take?” “Fourteen. I let go of the wheel halfway home and Jesus drove me the rest of the way.”

This is a original story which had me captivated right from the start.I think I read this in one day and was craving for more. I loved the complexitivity of the characters and how their attitude and personality contradicted what was below the surface.

“Come! Come sit by me. It’s a nice bench. Nice and lovely on the butt.”
“You’re drunk.”
“Yeah, and you’re ugly, but do I complain about it? No! Because I don’t complain about things that I can’t change. That’s called intelligence.”

I adored Isis she is definately on my fav heroine list! Haven't read a book with a character like her she was crazy awesome! And Jack aww Jack can be a prick but you just can't hate him. It was funny how Isis infuriated him like no other and somehow between all the arguments, wars and battles lines seem to cross and something more that annoyance takes over.I loved their war and I'm looking forward to the next book to see what it holds. The plot twist and the little pieces we get from this big puzzle leaves you questioning..what really did happen in the past? Some answers are revealed but instead of it getting resolved it gets more complicated!

If you are looking for a hilarious, heartbreaking, amazing book I totally recommend this one!!
Oh the cliffhanger..I knew there would be one but omg I did not expect that! Book 2 here I come..
