Review: A Perfect Ten (Forbidden Men, #5) by Linda Kage

Synopsis

Let your hair down, Caroline, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

I know I've closed myself off in a major way over the past year, ever since “the incident” where I messed up my life completely. It's past time I try to live again or just give up altogether. But this is quite possibly the craziest thing I've ever done. In a last ditch effort to invigorate myself, I'm standing outside Oren Tenning's bedroom, I just peeled off the sexiest pair of underwear I own, and my hand is already raised to knock. My brother would disown me for doing anything with his best friend, and he'd probably kill Oren. But if I play my cards right, no one will ever know about this. Not even Ten.

Maybe after tonight, I’ll finally get over this stupid, irrational crush I hate having on the biggest jerk I’ve ever met. Or maybe I’ll just end up falling for him even harder. Maybe I’ll discover there’s so much more to my crude, carefree hunk than meets the eye

My Review

5 Perfect Stars!!

"You're seriously breaking all my rules.You know that right?"
Her smile just grew.
"I'm beginning to get a clue"

Linda Kage continues to blow me away.As soon as I start any book of hers I just can't stop until I have finished it.So yeah all yesterday I was sneaking around trying to get a little extra reading in because I needed more, I just couldn't put it down and then wait this is the worst part..it ended! How fukin dare it end when I'm not done with it yet? I wanted it to carry on for at least 300 pages more or forever..that works too.

I was already a Caroline fan since I met her in Quinn's book, I'm not sure if she is in any other book I started the series from Be my hero and need to read the previous two books. And Ten was always a joker, at times rude and annoying but I always knew there would be more to him. LK made me fall in love with Oren so hard and gave this book a bit of everything. At times I was laughing out loud and the next on the verge of tears. Caroline was funny and obviously Oren was bloody hilarious, at times he said inappropriate things and still made them sound sweet and adorable!

“What the fuck have you done to me Caroline? … Why couldn’t I stay away from you? … Why can’t I get enough of you? … What do I want to own every fucking piece of you?”

There were so many parts I wasn't expecting I went in kind of thinking it would be angsty and Caroline and Oren would be going back and forth, not knowing what they wanted.It wasn't like that, there was s much more to it.And finally Caroline's past all made sense and so did Oren's. There was such a deep sadness in his life, he was constantly battling it all, yet you would have never have known because he was so good at hiding it. You look at him and see this happy go lucky character, the class clown, not someone who has a big part of himself hidden even from his closest friends.

I can not wait to carry on with this series even though I'm not sure who this next character is but Linda Kage is awesome and I'm sure I will love whoever this Knox guy is as well, another author whose books will be ones I need to buy in paperback one day! I would definitely re-read them, well I have already re-read Picks book ;)

Review: Here Be Sexist Vampires (Deep In Your Veins, #1) by Suzanne Wright

Synopsis
Sam Parker is a vampire with a gift so strong and substantial that she is invited to partake in a test for a place in the Grand High Master Vampire’s private army. She finds that not only has the army never included a woman, but it has never included a Sventé vampire; a breed that is regarded by the super strong Pagori breed and the hypnotically beautiful Keja breed to be too tame and human-like. Most refuse to take her seriously, especially a Pagori commander named Jared who she craves in spite of herself.

The Grand High Master, however, sees her potential and offers her the position of Jared’s co-commander to help train the newest squad in time for the impending attack on his home. Sam has to demonstrate to Jared and the squad of chauvinists why it is incredibly foolish to underestimate a wilful, temperamental, borderline-homicidal Sventé female.

Warning: This novel contains an iron-willed female vampire with an energy whip, a sexist male vampire who is determined to have her, explicit vampy sex, and a romance story with real bite.

My Review

4 Bite Me Stars!

Why haven't I heart of this series before? And this author?
This is my first book by Suzanne Wright and I really enjoyed more.Will definitely be reading more by her. It's been a while since I read any paranormal book and especially Vampire ones and I really needed a change and this one was just sitting in my kindle app, begging me to start it. I'm soo glad I did.

HBSV drew me in straight away and I was never bored. It's one of them books which makes you want to carry on, you need to know what will happen next. It's not just a paranormal romance its so much more.It has romance, humour, action and more. I loved the characters and can't wait to get to know them all better. Only weird thing I felt was the guys giggling LOL i just kept imagining them being all girly.

“So you’re prejudiced against women, young vampires, and against another breed of vampire. I bet you’re a delight to have around.”

Jared oh Jared! Sexist pig who made me laugh and want to smack him at times.Jared and Sam were awesome together, I could not get enough of their little arguments and banter.I'm glad it was written in dual pov I liked knowing both characters view and feelings about things, it helped a lot in matters. Jared and Sam felt the attraction as soon as they met yet they were both being stubborn.They are perfect for each other and even though they annoy each other at times, when anything bad happens they seek each others company or solace.

Jared’s lips were suddenly at my ear. “The only vampire who’ll be manhandling you tonight is me.”

“If I let you.”

I want more! I will be reading the next book as soon as I am done with a few arcs!

My Review

4 Stars!!

I saw this cover and thought ohh is this really a book for me? I have to admit the cover matters to me and I usually go for the more darker mysterious looking ones than the bright ones.I have a friend who always (well, a lot of the times) reads books with bright pink, colourful covers and it reminded me of her! But when I read an excerpt I was eager to start it and see how it went.And as you can see, It went well ;)

“And it’s like my mum always said, be with a man that ruins your lipstick, not your mascara.”

This is the first book I have read by Laura Barnard and she is from England woop! I love it when I find new authors from England I'm all like I know an author that live kinda.. close by *pats back* LOL.
I got stuck into this book and was looking forward to what would happen.There were a lot of things that I didn't expect and then there were others that were predictable such as certain things would come to light..it had to happen yet I was hoping it wouldn't.

Rose at the starting is a selfish brat and I thought I would end up hating her or getting really annoyed (that didn't happen though) , she doesn't know what true friends are and how family will always stick by you and how you should never let go of true love.She doesn't care for anyone's feelings at the start, she just wants what she thinks is best for her.As the novel continues she finds out that there is a lot more to the village and the friendships she has created here are ones that wouldn't use her or leave her. But in the end will she leave them?

“God, he’s hot. He’s making me stupid.”

We meet James before we meet William but as soon as I met William I was like yup that's the one I like! I do like a guy who is open with his emotions but I did feel at times he needed to be a bit closed. Is that weird? Haha I still really liked his character.The winking was odd but funny.And I really wanted James and Elsie to have their own book, I really want to know more about them especially James and the relationship between the brothers.

This book has a bit of everything, it had me laughing at some of the silly things Rose does, rolling my eyes, cringing, wanting to smack some sense into her and parts of this book also made my heart hurt.It's a fun book with a lot of heart.Oh and the fanny fart part was just hilarious!

My Review
4 Brilliant Stars!

Have I mentioned that I flove Belle Aurora? If you haven't read her books you are really missing out..BIG TIME! SO grab any one of her books and get reading. Okay yes, its been a long wait but Bella always makes it worth it.Another awesome book that made me smile so hard and even get a little emotional.

This is book 3 in the 'Friend-Zoned' Series and this one is about Max and Helena. You can read these books as stand-alones but why would you do that when you can start from book 1 and read all the way to this one.You have to read them all they will have you laughing out loud, swooning and falling in love.

We have met Max in the previous books and you see him as the funny, flirty one and a single- father who loves his little girl so much. We don't really see much of his serious side.It's heartbreaking seeing him struggle as a father at times and I wanted to reach into the book and hug him because he truly is an awesome father and he needed someone to strong to be with him, someone loving who could made his house, a home.

Helena is Nat's sister and we briefly meet her in 'Love Thy Neighbour'
I didn't know until later that her and Max would be paired up but I was looking forward to how it would all work out. Helena is just so funny!
I loved this part!!

"Firstly, old man, it's stub your toe.You need English lessons.Secondly, I stubbed it really bad that time.It was hanging by a thread! If I didn't use the Band-Aid when I did, not even plastic surgeon would have been able to save my pinkie toe."

Even Helena's dad was funny! Oh if I wrote down all the scenes I loved I would probably be spoiling the whole book since I did highlight a shit load.I loved all the supporting characters as well as the main ones, they are all so funny, quirky and they all form one big family bound by laughter and love.

Helena moves next door to Nat since she gets a new job close by and this is how Max meets Helena. But Helena isn't interested in him, or so she says.After meeting Max and being rejected on her sisters wedding she wants nothing to do with him.But fate has other plans..plans filled with laughter, love, family and even some tears.

He steps closer to me, his hand cupping my waist. "I want you.I want you more than anyone I've ever wanted in my life."

Can't wait for more in this series ;)

Excerpt:
The M Lounge was the hippest and most discreet club in LA. If there was any hope of me locking down a one-night stand, M Lounge was the place to go.
“I can’t drink much tonight because I have that meeting with my record label in the morning,” I warned as we passed through the back entrance to the club and headed up a set of stairs that were used exclusively for the VIP level. Fun fact: one time I was going up those stairs when P. Diddy was coming down, and he totally touched my ass. Allegedly.
“Just to clarify: if you’re begging me for tequila shots at midnight, threatening to kill my first born if I don’t give them to you, I should still tell you no?” Cammie asked, just to ensure the boundaries were set. Better safe than sorry.
“That was one time and it was in Cabo,” I protested. “What else are you supposed to do in Cabo other than challenge a mariachi band to a tequila shot contest until the lead singer passes out beside a donkey?”
Cammie held up her hands and started listing off items. “I dunno— enjoy the beach, check out the museums and the culture—”
“That was a rhetorical question,” I interrupted as we made it to the top of the stairs.
As if by magic, the black curtain in front of us swept to the side, opening up an entire room of drunken debauchery before us. In one corner, a celebrity who shall remain nameless (we’ll call her Nennifer Janiston) was sucking face with a sexy man, and across the room two of the funniest women in comedy were doing body shots off of a waiter from the club.
“Welcome to the behind the scenes of Hollywood,” I whispered to Cammie.

My Review

3.5 Funny Stars!

I had totally forgotten that I had to review this for the release blitz so when reminded I quickly jumped in and hoped this would be good and not a slow read because that would have killed me at this point.I started this and could not stop after reading about Brooklyn Heart and Jason Monroe's awkward first encounter.Simply put its about two different singers who have but put together by their label to write a song for their duet.

This is one of those books that caused me to have a have a smile on my face through out the book, giggle and want to smack the characters and tell them to sort their crap out.I enjoyed Brooklyn's inner monologue but at times I wanted her to stop thinking and get on with things.She was sassy and I loved her sarcasm and attitude. Jason was an arsehole at the start I just didn't get why he felt like that still don't really it was never really discussed.Like I would have asked..hellloooo what was that crap when we first met eh?

"Does your cockiness have a dimmer switch or is it always set to 'high'?"

"Guess you've figured me out, huh?"

One of the parts I loved was the horse riding! I felt like it was the only part where they actually tried getting to know each other on an emotional level.I think that's the main part why the rating is as it is I really wanted them to know each other on a deeper level and I felt it was mainly physical and about their lust rather than love. The ending part did bring the stars up though that was sweet but we don't get to see them in a proper relationship.

This part had me laughing out loud!

"You're supposed to lift your leg up and straddle her,"Jason said as if I didn't actually know that.

"Oh, really? I thought everyone rode with their asses in the air."
"Well, technically it's in my face,"Jason corrected...

If you are looking for a quick light hearted read that will make you smile this is a book for you! I have enjoyed books by this author and I will definitely be reading others she write.I'm actually really excited for Cammie & Grayson's Story!! Grayson is so broody and omg I want to know more!

Review: Friends Without Benefits (Knitting in the City #2) by Penny Reid

Synopsis
Friends Without Benefits can be read as a standalone, is a full length 120k word novel, and is book#2 in the Knitting in the City Series.

There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Finney: 1) She suffers from severe sarcastic syndrome, especially when she's unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her like Nico Manganiello, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Elizabeth Finney is almost always right about everything: the musical merits of boy bands are undervalued by society, “benefits” with human Ken dolls are better without friendship, and the sun has set on her once-in-a-lifetime chance for true love. But when Elizabeth’s plans for benefits without friendship are disarmed by the irritatingly charismatic and chauvinistic Nico Manganiello- her former nemesis- she finds herself struggling to maintain the electric fence around her heart while avoiding electrocution or, worse, falling in love.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Review
4 Knitting Stars!
Why do I take so long getting round to writing some reviews? I'm sorry Penny! Finally getting round it and now I need to recap the story.
....................
Okay here goes ;)
“He was hot like lava and sexy like cake. Wait, like lava cake. Yum.”
I decided before reading this one I had to read book 1 even though this book can be read as a standalone. I don't usually go into a book which is in a series without starting from the beginning or else I feel like I am missing out on something. I liked book 1 but this book got better!
If you need a book to make you laugh out loud, giggle and swoon over a hot Italian , then this is the book for you.This is book 2 in the 'Knitting in the City' series and it is about Elizabeth Finney and Nico Manganiello.They may have shared a past but never would Elizabeth think they would share something in the future. They used to be childhood friends who parted due to a misunderstanding, feelings and a hell of a lot more.
Elizabeth is 26yrs old Medical Doctor who has her career all sorted but her love life is a whole different story.She believes in only one true love so resorts to hooking up and then leaving them after a while. She was sarcastic, funny and at times annoying because she wouldn't let herself just be happy. She was insecure despite being successful and she needed to work on communicating with Nico.
"It doesn't matter how much you avoid it, love finds you. Love will hunt you down, throw you over it's shoulder, pull you kicking and screaming caveman style by the hair, and bludgeon you with its love club until you submit. It's the most relentless force in the Universe. There is no where you can run-"
Now Nico he was really something.I really liked Nico the sexy Italian who was also sweet and funny!He teased her as a kid but that's what guys do when they are immature and like someone. Did he take it too far? You be the judge of that. I love how he was though as a man and that CD he gives her with each song telling her more that he can say in words.
Loved the knitting group! Them ladies were awesome, I want to join ;)
My Review
5 Brilliant, I-Want-More Stars!!
'Why do I believe her to be mine and I hers when she is supposed to be my enemy?'
So it took me a while to get round to this one and wait wait before you all attack me ..It's only because I really, really didn't want this series to finish! But then Jennifer Loren gave me some amazing news when she revealed that there would be more! Yes baby! I was over the moon and thought well now I can read it. This is book 5 in the Devil's Eyes series by Jennifer Loren and what a book is was. JL you never disappoint!
"This fallen angel may be stained, but don't be fooled.I am not broken.I will be the remedy to your poison, Asmodeus."
This book continues from where the last last book finished. You find out that somehow Kayla carries the key to getting Nick back from his grandfathers clutches.Nick has been poisoned and he doesn't remember Kayla or any of his family anymore.He is ready to kill anyone who goes against Dennis not knowing that his grandfather is making him hurt his own family and friends.
One thing I love about this series is that it has it all, entertainment, drama, suspense, action, thrills, humour and so much more. I love each and every character (the good ones obviously).Dennis Savage the things I wanted to do to you..no for all the perverts reading this and thinking its all sexual.NO. I wanted to kill this man in so many different ways.He had my blood boiling, why Dennis are you such a pig?
"I know you can't take your eyes off me.I get it but I have some things I need to take care of.You can undress me with your eyes when I get back later.."- Elijah
We got to see a lot more of Elijah awww I already liked him in from the glimpses we got in the previous books but this one made me love him more.I just wanted to squeeze him! I'm happy he finally found someone and now its Ryan's turn. I'm hoping Ryan finds his happily ever after in the books to come because he truly deserves it. There were a lot of funny parts as well as the serious bits and how everything was going to work out, how to get Nick back and protect the family.
"Oh, be nice, tall unpleasant one.I will look at your breasts next if you want?" I say rubbing his chest.- Elijah
I felt like this book was too short because I just can't get enough of these books and series.One minute I started it and next minute finished..What is this sorcery!! LOL I finished this in one go and stayed up late because I could not put it down.And now I want more soo..hurry with the spin-off woman ;)
Cover Reveal: One Night With Him and One Night With Her By Lauren Blakely
Lauren Blakely is well known for writing sexy, heartfelt and humorous contemporary romance as well as deeply emotional new adult stories -- one commonality in all her books is the scorching hot sexy times. And these new books are absolutely no different! Jack Sullivan and Michelle Milo's story will be told in 2 books – the free prequel novella ONE NIGHT WITH HER and the novel NIGHTS WITH HIM. I’m thrilled that you are taking part in the reveal for them! The free prequel novella, ONE NIGHT WITH HER, will release first on October 21st. Then, NIGHTS WITH HIM will release on November 11th. Lauren worked with her regular cover designer, Sarah Hansen at Okay Creations, for these covers and we are so delighted to share them with you and your readers.
Message from Lauren:
The Seductive Nights erotic romance series continues with a new
installment starring a new couple later this fall! While the first
four books in the series followed Julia and Clay, the next two will be
about Michelle and Jack, and can be read without having read the
earlier books. (Though, why wouldn't you want to read about Clay and
Julia?!)
I can't wait to introduce readers to Jack Sullivan. He's sexy, broody,
witty, smart, and a little bit damaged and he's also my favorite kind
of hero - the kind who wears a suit! Jack Sullivan is a sex toy mogul
and is the CEO of a high-end line of pleasure products - he'll bring
all that experience to the bedroom as he sweeps Michelle Milo off her
feet - expect many steamy encounters between these two! Michelle needs
some good loving after all - readers know her already as Clay's friend
from Night After Night who loved him unrequitedly from afar. Now it's
finally her turn in the romance arena, and Jack will make sure she
gets it good!!
To give readers a chance to get to know this newest dirty-talking
alpha hero of mine, I will be releasing a free prequel novella called
ONE NIGHT WITH HER on October 21 about the night they meet and the mind-blowing encounter they have in a New York City hotel. The novel itself will release on Nov. 11. NIGHTS WITH HIM is available to
preorder on iBooks, with an Amazon preorder to go up about three weeks
before the novel's release.
ABOUT NIGHTS WITH HIM:
A sensual, sexy, standalone romance novel in the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Seductive Nights Series by Lauren Blakely...
Jack Sullivan is a Sex Toy Mogul.
An extremely eligible bachelor in New York, he’s the full package, right down to his full package. Hell, this man could be the model for one of the toys his company, Joy Delivered, peddles. Instead, he’s the powerful and successful CEO and he’s got commitment issues a mile-long after the tragic way his relationship with his fiancée ended.
He’s looking for a way to erase the pain and that arrives in the form of Michelle Milo. From her pencil skirts to her high heels, she’s his perfect fantasy, especially since she has no idea who he is the night they meet at a hotel bar. He doesn’t have a clue either that she’s the brilliant psychologist his sister has arranged for him to see to help him get over his past. She’s simply the stunning woman he takes to bed that night and delivers many Os of joy too.
His touch helps her forget that other man.
When he shows up at her office door the next day, there’s no way in hell she’s going to treat him after they’ve slept together. Jack isn’t willing to let go of the first woman he’s felt anything for in years so he proposes a deal – share her nights with him for thirty days. At the end of one month of exquisite pleasure, they walk away, having helped each other move on from their haunted pasts.
But soon, all those nights threaten to turn into days as the lines between lust and matters of the heart start to blur. Can two people so terribly afraid of love truly fall head over heels?
