Cover Reveal: Fighting to Forget By J.B Salsbury

Release date: April 15, 2014
Presale available: April 1, 2014

Fighting to Forget Blurb
Every fighter is drawn to the violence, the release that a perfect hit can bring.
But very few are drawn to the pain.
Rex Carter lives behind a wall of indifference. The demons from his childhood act as an anesthetic, keeping him distant from emotional connections. Only the ache from a knock to the jaw, sting of a tattoo needle, or heat from a piercing, can jolt him back from the numbness. The fiery pain is all he can feel, and nothing compares to the burn.
Or so he thought.
Working in a Las Vegas bar isn’t Georgia Maxwell’s dream. But she hopes it’ll be an end to the nightmare.
Over a decade she’s watched him. Followed his career and kept tabs, all in preparation for this moment. To make amends, repair the wrong. But she didn’t count on the feelings that seeing him again would stir up. The vacant look in his stormy-blue eyes, his perfect body now mutilated by ink and metal.
And only she knows why. She’s lived his pain, every single day, since the day he left.
Changed by time, Rex doesn’t remember the girl from his past. If only she could do the same.
Will she get the absolution she’s spent her life seeking?
Or will he continue, Fighting to Forget?

Unedited Teaser from Fighting to Forget:

Mac
“What do you dream about?” His voice is soft, desperate.
“Memories from the past. Things I wish I could forget, but can’t.” You. Always you.
“Forget.” A humorless laugh, dry with sarcasm, tumbles from his lips. “You think your nightmares would end if you couldn’t remember the bad?”
“I don’t know. I hope they would.”
He exhales hard and his shoulders drop. “They don’t.”
God, what is he saying? He doesn’t remember the bad, but he dreams it? I’m pushing it, I know I am, but he’s opening up and I can’t pass up the opportunity to find out if he’s okay, if he’s really okay. “You dream the bad, but you can’t remember it?”
            “Something like that.”
That’s not possible. “Then how do you know it’s real?”
He drops his head into his hands, gripping fistfuls of his hair. “I don’t.”

My Review
4.5 BEAUTIFUL DISASTER WITH EXTRA CHERRIES ON TOP STARS!

I try not to live in the past. But sometimes the past lives in me.

-James Ford

This is a brilliant book which had a little bit of everything,it was emotional, funny, sweet and beautiful. It all starts off when you meet Layla she is a senior in high school and things aren't going so well. Few years back things were perfect but after witnessing her parent being gunned down by a robber she develops a condition which causes her to become the school freak.Diagnosed with PTSD with induced seizures she loses herself. She tries to disappear into the background and not be noticed. You can't be bullied and looked down on as a freak if you're invisible right?

I can feel them watching me.Warily.Wondering if something will happen that will cause me to snap like before. Some of the looks say they pity me, a few are intrigued, and the rest try to pretend I don't exist because they don't want to think about it.About how one second things can be perfectly normal and the next it can all be torn to shreds.

Destroyed, ripped apart, and broken.Like me.

Layla doesn't have any friends and life is pretty lonely until a new guy starts school called Landen O’Brien and everything changes.

Landen is sick of moving around with his mother because of his father who treats him like dirt. But he does it anyways to make his mom happy. The constant moving around causes him to have very few friends. He is just as lonely as Layla.
When he starts school at Hope Springs, Georgia things change for him, everything changes when he sees Layla. He sees her for the beautiful person she is and not the freak that the others have labelled her as.But Landen has his own problems that don't seem to go away, that torure him daily. They both keep each other from falling, from destroying everything, they need each other and they make each other happy. Their relationship is so sweet and pure they give each other what they have been missing in life. Landen wants Layla even when he find out about her condition and accepts her for who she is unlike others around her.

I need to hit. To be hit. To kick and fight and hurt and be hurt. I need the kind of pain that makes sense. The kind the cuts and bruises and breaks bones. If this night had a theme, its Landen O'Brien is a worthless piece of shit that ruins everything. Maybe that's the theme of my life.

Layla is a innocent, loving, strong character I liked in the end, even though there were parts where she annoyed me and wanted to yell at her for pushing Landen away. And Landen..ohh Landen I loved him (obviously) even with his flaws he was so lovely, caring, considerate and did so much for Layla because he loved her. My heart hurt for him and what he went through I wanted to reach into the pages and hug him!
I really enjoyed and needed the dual POV to really understand what both the characters were going through as they weren't always open with their feelings so this made it easier to understand why they did what they did.

What is it about this guy? Why do I feel like he was sent here just for me?

Layla's and Landen's friendship/relationship develops and just when everything is going right, everything changes. Landen has to leave and Layla is left behind. Hurt, sadness and heartbreak is where things are left at.
So what happen when few years later they meet again and can't seem to stay away from each other? But there is a lot Layla doesn't know about will the secrets Landen has kept break them apart once again?

Not a minute has passed since the first time I laid eyes on you that I haven’t wanted you. Needed you. I will always want you.

Loved it and the ending awwwww! I am sooo glad this is a HEA my heart has been through enough I'm glad it wasn't crushed at the end!(Phew)
The letter Landen writes omg bless his heart!!!

Blog Tour/Review/Giveaway: Wish I may By Lexi Ryan

WISH I MAY by Lexi Ryan
October 2013

BOOK SUMMARY:
I grew up wishing on stars.

My father taught me to believe…in destiny, in magic, in happily ever after. Dreams were my scripture and the starry night sky was my temple. Then Mom stopped believing, left him, and took us with her. At the age of sixteen, I cashed in my dreams to pay the rent, pawned my destiny to keep my sisters together.

Now, seven years later, I’m returning home, grieving the death of my mother, and settling my sisters back into the life Mom threw away. I never intended to stay. I don’t want to deal with my father, who is so invested in the spiritual world he forgets the physical. I don’t want to face William Bailey, whose eyes remind me of the girl I was, the things I’ve done, and the future I lost.
This would all be easier if Will hated me. As it is, I have to hold my secrets close so they won’t hurt him more than they’ve already hurt me. But he wants to be in my life. He wants what I can’t bring myself to confess I sold. He wants me.

I find myself looking to my stars again...wondering if I dare one more wish.

My Review
4.5 NEVER SAY GOODBYE STARS!!

Lets me start off by telling your that I haven't had a chance to read the first book so I didn't know much about what happened previously and about the other characters. Even with that I still think Will is the best character and I'm sure I would have loved him in book 1 too!

He is just such an awesome, loving character and damn so many times I was like Cally piss off move the hell back let me comfort him awww Will! And other times I was screaming at Cally about breaking his heart. Why do you have to hurt him huh?! He can be happy..with me ;)

"I want you to always believe you deserve whatever you can wish for, Cally. As long as you'll let me, I'll make your wishes come true."

William Bailey is an artist and professor and his love life hasn't ever gone as planned.Things have gotten that bad that he is even talking to someone his grandma has set him up with. But everything changes when someone from his past gets lost and somehow ends up outside his house.

Cally Fisher has had it rough since day one with a mother who is a druggy and a father who is absorbed with his spiritual journey the responsibility of bringing up her 2 sisters lands on her.But now her mother is dead and she is back to the place she loved to drop her sisters off with her dad. It all changes when the one person she hoped to avoid finds her lost.

"After seven years. After the lamest breakup in the history of breakups. After breaking his heart and dismissing my own, I'm still very much his."

Will and Cally loved each other they were always together until Cally had to leave due to her moms insistence. Moving away and looking after everyone with no help was a pain and Cally suffered an awful lot to keep food on the table, to look after her sisters. She was just a kid who had to grow up too fast, she stopped believing in shooting stars and wishes and dreams. It all ended for her the very same night she broke Will's heart and her own.I felt sorry for her and hated that she never let anyone in, she had so much bottled up, so much anger, frustrations, bitterness and much more. She should have let Will in, she shouldn't have broke his heart. But hey the past is the past..

Or is it? What happens when past and present collide and there is no place to run?

”Look at you. You’re all grown up.” He grins, and my knees go a little weak. How could I have forgotten the effect this man’s smile has on my knees?
“I could say the same for you.” I bite my lip. Hopefully no drool has escaped.
That knee-killing grin grows wider. I’m toast.

There were some parts I did not expect, this book kept my attention right until the end.I was glad that this was in both Will's and Cally's POV because it made you see a clearer picture of what was happening and how both main characters felt. It also made you feel conflicted because I felt hurt and annoyed on Will's part even knowing what was going on with Callie. She kept hurting him and he kept forgiving. She assumed that because he has money that things were simple for Will and the rest.
I loved the chemistry between the main characters and loved how supportive their friends were in all of this.

‘I push myself out the door before I can change my mind and I’m greeted by a night of glittering stars. The stars in New Hope are brighter and more plentiful than anywhere else I've ever been. When I was a little girl, I’d would look out my bedroom window each night and pick my favorite one and only then would I make a wish. My father taught me to believe in the magic of wishes and destiny, and I was such an adoring daughter that his words were my scripture and the starry night sky became my temple.’

Lexi Ryan takes you on a journey of forgiveness, mistake, pain, heartbreak and finding happiness, wishing and believing. This book is about how Cally and Will overcome everything and learn to love despite the past and everything bad.To keep believing everything happens for a reason and in the end it will all be alright.

Review: Delayed Penalty By Shey Stahl

Synopsis
A minor penalty that is not called until the offending team gains control of the puck. As long as the non-offending team maintains possession, the referee allows play to continue and signals a delayed penalty by raising his arm.

I’m Evan Mason, an NHL hockey player for the Chicago Blackhawks. I spend my nights roughing up two hundred pound defensemen and, at times, spend more time in the penalty box than I do on the ice.

That’s my job.

One night changed everything I thought I once knew about my life on, and off, the ice.

A girl.

A brutally beaten girl left to die in an alley.
I don’t know why or how but something made me stay that night after taking her to the hospital. I didn’t know her, nor did I have an obligation to stay but something inside of me rooted me there telling me I should stay. Saving a life is worth something. At least I thought so. And I wouldn’t have been me if I just simply left her there.

Any man who put his heart and soul into a game of hockey couldn’t just walk away when someone needed them. She had no one else right now. The same guy who saw determination where there was desire, now saw hope where there was once despair.

I couldn’t leave. That wouldn’t be me. No, not a man that put all he had into something some called just a game. I couldn’t walk away from her holding onto life, weak and powerless to something she had no control over.

So I stayed. In a room full of family members praying for their loved ones to pull through, I prayed for a girl I didn’t know and had never met before, to have a beating heart. While others’ sorrows turned to grieving pain, I sat waiting on the words of the unknown.

No bond is stronger than the ones you’ll bleed for

My Review

4 Awesome Intriguing Hockey Stars!

“Our presence in the world was actually very small. It was our presence in the lives of others that made the world what it was. Every word we said, every gesture we made, every detail connected you to that presence you made whether you knew it or not.”

Evan "Mase" Mason is an NHL hockey player for the Chicago Blackhawks, when he finds a girl on Christmas Eve lying on the snow raped and nearly beaten to death he cant leave her there and has to help. After rescuing her he just cant leave her at the hospital after finding out that she has no-one to be there for her.He is drawn back to her and ends up falling in love with her..

“No bond is greater than the ones you'll bleed for.”

Ami is 18 years old and came to Chicago to start over to create a new life and become a ballerina. She is running from her past after facing so much loss she moves to Chicago only to be brutally attacked. The only light in all the darkness is Evan. Her saviour who helps her overcome the loss in her life. They help each other to become better and stronger people.

“You can't see something shining if you're eyes are closed.”

Wow!I really enjoyed this book and let me tell you something..before I read this book I knew nothing about hockey.I liked finding more about the sport and actually enjoyed reading about it,much to my surprise.I actually thought I wouldn't enjoy it due to the whole hockey part of it and would get bored and lose interest ahh how wrong I was! The story-line was awesome and there wasn't a dull moment to it.This book is in both Ami's and Evan's POV which made it even better!

Oh my god I was going to write I loved Leo he should sooo have his own book and then I check next book and what dya know.. Book 2 is Leo's woop woop!

My Review

5 BRILLIANT, HEART RACING,CAPTIVATING DYSTOPIAN STARS

"Never did I imagine they’d come for me. Never did I imagine all those nights I heard them dragging someone else away that I’d join them."

The book is set post World War V. The commander, a cold hearted man who wants to eradicate all sins by locking up sinners in a place called The Hole, there is no trial. He has took over the country and everyone is under his control.Anyone who speaks out against him will be branded a sinner or executed.

"You can overcome anything...short of death."

Lexi Hamilton has been accused and guards have come to take her away to The Hole, she doesn't have a chance to defend herself..there is no trial.Screaming that she has been falsely accused would result in torture or death. She is branded around her neck with LUST.She may not have committed the crime but The Hole is now her new home.Survival is key.

The Seven Deadly Sins:

Lust ~ Blue
Gluttony ~ Orange
Greed ~ Yellow
Sloth ~ Black
Wrath ~ Red
Envy ~ Green
Pride ~ Purple

This is an awesome, fast paced, heart wrenching romance.I was sucked into this imaginary world right from page 1.I was captivated by the environment, the disturbing scenes and the story. I'm sure The Hole is just another word for Hell! It is so creepy, gritty and made my skin crawl.

"I don't want to die, but at the same time, I wish I were dead."

Lexi Hamilton is a strong, brave fighter. She fights for survival and for freedom. You couldn't help but sympathise with her, can you imagine this even happening to you? :O

The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.

I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

She is assigned a guard to watch her. Cole is a strong, loyal(don't forget hot) guard ;) He isn't like most of the guards, who treat sinners like dirt. In the midst of chaos a relationship is formed between guard and sinner. Lexi and Cole's feelings become stronger as days go by but its wrong. For a Guard to love a Sinner is like committing suicide in the worst possible way.If they are accused they will be tortured and killed.

"Shhh..." He grips me closer to his body and then softly whispers in my ear, "I'm about to kiss you, and once I start I won't be able to stop. Just thought I should warn you."

Now lets get down to the important character in this book...Zeus ;)
The loving protective awesome dog! I loved this dog he is always there for Lexi when she needs him!

Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki did a superb job with this book I cant wait for more! I want to know more about Cole!

Review: Complete Me (Stark Trilogy #3) By J. Kenner

Book 1-Release Me
Book 2- Claim Me
Book 3- Complete Me

Synopsis
This sexy, emotionally charged romance continues the story of Damien Stark, the powerful multimillionaire who’s never had to take “no” for an answer, and Nikki Fairchild, the Southern belle who only says “yes” on her own terms.

Our desire runs deep. But our secrets cut close. Beautiful, strong, and commanding, Damien Stark fills a void in me that no other man can touch. His fierce cravings push me beyond the brink of bliss—and unleash a wild passion that utterly consumes us both.

Yet beneath his need for dominance, he carries the wounds of a painful past. Haunted by a legacy of dark secrets and broken trust, he seeks release in our shared ecstasy, the  heat between us burning stronger each day.

Our attraction is undeniable, our obsession inevitable. Yet not even Damien can run from his ghosts, or shield us from the dangers yet to come.

My Review
4 Stars for the gorgeous Damien Stark!

Complete me is the third installment of the Stark series, it starts off straight from where it left off in book two.The trial is beginning and Damien is slowly losing control of his life.We find out how control is important to Damien but when he is accused of killing his coach who abused him, things go downhill, fast.

Nikki's past was revealed in the past books but we didn't know alot of things about Damien s past. This book reveals his demons and Nikki is by his side when he has to face them.

This book shows how far Damien and Nikki have come and how their relationship has grown stronger.
I really enjoyed discovering a more vulnerable side to the sexy powerful millionaire his character changes becoming more open towards Nikki and more accepting of the past.I think the story was concluded well and both main characters became stronger as individuals and as a couple.

I thought some parts of this book were a little slow and dragged on a bit though i enjoyed how the author added suspense and i had to finish the book to find out the answers to all the questions i had.

This book needed a better ending i just needed more from it!I don't think this book is better than the first but overall i enjoyed this series.

My Review

4.5 Incredible, Haunting, Broken, Nathan Loving Stars!!

Two Broken souls
Shattered hearts
Painful memories

Can Lila and Nathan heal and finally move forward?

This is book two of the Breach series and after reading Dissolution (Breach #1.5),a Novella from Nathan POV, which was heart-breaking and made me love Nathan even more, I really had to have this book..And then K.I.Lynn you awesome woman sent an ARC I was over the moon *happy dancing* :D

Infraction starts off where the previous book left off, Lila is at the hospital after the car crash she was in and things continue from there..

This book was a lot more about growth in Nathan and Lila's relationship they have a lot of issues to work on they both need help and fucking away problems or pushing each other away wasn't working at all..

Whilst the first book Breach focused more on their sexual relationship Infraction focused on Nathan and Lila getting better and being free from their past traumatic experiences.

"The mask was gone, and for the first time I was seeing the true Nathan without any inhibitions. He was raw and lay before me. More beautiful than usual in his agony."

Both the main characters are broken and lost until they find each other..struggling with their pasts and haunted by heartbreaking memories how do they improve their relationship..
Nathan needs to gain Lila's trust after he destroyed it in Breach. He is consumed with past guilt which is slowly eating away at him. Will he be able to forgive himself?

Lila has her own troubles and is scared to let Nathan in again but she also knows she cant live without him. I felt that Lila's character became stronger and more stable than how it was in the previous book.

We find out a lot more about Nathans past and why he did the things he did. You find out more about his demons and what haunts him and it makes you fall even deeper in love with his character! I just wanted to give him a big hug (among other things) and make him feel better..
To move forward Nathan needs to make peace with himself, his demons are in his head, his guilt, anger, frustration is all aimed at himself.

"After everything, there was still that rope that bound us together, pulling me to him."

The ending took me by surprise! And had me thing whatttttt? Thats it??
yes I had a mini panic attack until I saw that there is another book in the series *phew*

Overall I really enjoyed this book,a beautiful, intense, heartbreaking story filled with forgiveness and love..

"He was furious, fists clenched at his side, and I could tell he wanted an outlet. It was amusing to play with him, so I laid it on thicker, smiling and waving at him like I was on parade. He growled. My smile turned to a glare. Spoilsport."

Yes yes I thoroughly enjoyed this book! :D

Author Bio:
Just a book reading, writing loving, mommy and USMC wife! :)
I love to write, even if it isn't what is conventional and makes everyone feel giddy inside. I usually pull from dreams, or ideas that just thrust themselves into my head. I have what some would describe as a dry sense of humor, and I think its conveyed in my writing. I like to think I am a kick ass chick, but I can also be sensitive. I'm learning to grow thick skin, and in this field, it is definitely needed!
I won't put anything out that I am not absolutely proud of, but like E.L. James said, "I can't own people's reactions to it." Thanks for reading my work... I do appreciate it!
