Review: Dirty Ties by Pam Godwin

Synopsis

Revenge.
I race to finance it.
I evade to protect it.
I kill to attain it.
I planned everything.

Except her.
The alluring, curvaceous blonde at the finish line.
With sapphire eyes that cheat and lie.
Whose powerful family murdered mine.

I hate her.
I want her.

I know she’s hiding something.
But so am I.

My Review

4 Stars!!

This is the second book I have read by Pam Godwin, the first one being Deliver which I bloody loved! And PG did not disappoint. When I started this book I was a little slow because I was in a book funk and every book I was reading I just couldn't finish or get into it.Obviously this one turned out differently thank god!

"...beneath the tailored power-suit and affluent family, I was a woman like any other with a need for acceptance, a connection to cling to, a passion to balance out the monotony."

I got so into it and it was fast paced, action packed and thrilling.At times I felt like I was watching this action movie and the way everything came together was brilliant.I was clutching on, trying to piece it all together and there were times when my heart hurt for the characters, other times I wanted to kill a few.This book takes you through a roller-coaster of emotions but it is all worth it!

Revenge wasn’t an emotion. It was my inheritance, the acting force that lived in my blood and sustained my balance.

This book is written in dual povs so we get an insight to the lives of both main characters. This is a must since they are both so secretive and in order to stay alive they need to be. Kaci Baskel seems to have it all but looks can be deceiving. She puts on a great act but inside she is hollow, she is lonely and trapped. The only time she feels free and alive is when she sneaks off to watch Evader race. She can be anonymous hiding under her helmet and so can he.

Never would she have thought that Evader knows quite a lot about her.Even when she tries to hide who she is and watches him. She isn't alone in the watching, he watches her too. These characters have so much chemistry.They both have secrets that have become a burden on then in a way, one cause Evader to seek revenge and the other cause Kaci to live an unhappy life.

Just jump in to this book.This standalone will take you on one hell of a ride!

I don’t know what I was thinking when I hired someone to attack me. Maybe I was bored, or lonely, or there was a void so deep inside of me that I needed something explosive to fill it.
It was supposed to be safe. A thrill. A way to break through the monotony of everyday life. It was an illusion of danger that I could walk away from as soon as it was over.
Except that it wasn’t. Because I had been in danger long before I ever invited it into my life.

My mission is almost complete. The bubbling boil of vengeance that heats my blood might finally simmer.
She is the last piece of the puzzle. Once I destroy her, everyone who ever hurt me will have paid their debt.
It was supposed to be quick and easy, but as soon as I met her it got complicated.
Very complicated.

Excerpt
 I spin again to face him, and I hike my dress up just under my ass, while straddling one of his legs. His eyes are affixed on mine, like we are only two people in this crowded club. I ride his thigh, rubbing my bare pussy against him, as I lick my lips and run a hand through my hair.
My chest presses against the firmness of his torso, my nipples stiffening from the contact.
“Please, dance with me,” I beg in a mewl.
His hand threads through my hair, the other grabs my ass and pulls me up and against his thigh, applying more pressure against him.
Brick by brick.
And we move in sync: slow, rhythmic grinding. Eye to eye. Lids barely parted. Sweat beading. Low moans vanish into the air. The deafening music drowns out any conflicted feelings that remain. He tugs my hair and extends my neck, grazing his teeth against my chin, the tip of his tongue awakening the sensitive nerve endings. His hand squeezes my half-exposed ass, and everything lights up. My nipples and clit, a partnership of arousal, tense in ecstasy as they stroke against the man who sets me on fire. He is also the only person who can put me out.
My moans grow louder, but they are drowned out in the safety of the music. And like the flashing lights in the club, I become ablaze with flickering energy, throwing my head back, arching my spine as he supports me, as he lets me use his body, his smell, his taste, his overpowering masculine energy to put out the blaze that he ignites inside of me.
I collapse onto him, grasping his shirt, taking in his smell, the warmth of his broad chest, completely lost in the sensory experience that is Tax. I smile as I burrow my face into his chest, drunk off the mixture of alcohol and lust.

My Review

4.5 Stars!!

This is another fantastic book by Nina G Jones! Debt is a dark, raw gritty standalone which will take you on an emotional roller-coaster which you won't want to get off from.You will be left craving more.I have read every book this author has released and she just keeps getting better, I can't for more from her.

I think this is a book that you need to go in blind instead of knowing the basics of the story.There is so much more to it than you will ever think. I was captivated by the story and hanging on to every little word trying to figure out what would happen next.Would it all fall apart and the mystery of what really happened.How did it get to this?

‘My Dad used to warn me that the devil doesn't have horns and a pitchfork, he’ll appear as the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. He’ll make you laugh. He’ll make you feel good. You’ll do things you never thought you would, but he’ll tell you it’s okay. And before you know it, you’ve sold your soul to him.’

At the beginning I was totally all over the place about Tax, like I wanted to hate him but it was hard because deep down I was rooting for him and Mia. They had an explosive chemistry and it was like Mia was the light, the release he was missing.His character is dark and aggressive yet behind it all is a lot of emotion which I felt in each page.There were a lot of unexpected moments and I'm so glad this was dual POV or else I would have been totally lost and it also has flashbacks to the past which help explain everything. I like where they were positioned in the book because I have read book which take too long to get to the flashbacks or explanations to whats going on and I get frustrated and put off, but Nina did it just right!

“Reckless. Irresponsible. Dirty. Dangerous. Exhilarating. Erotic. Wild. Euphoric. How can one thing be all of those? How can peering into the gutter of my soul feel like I just touched heaven?”

There was so much anger, passion, betrayal, love and so much more. Ohh all these feels. By the end I was emotionally exhausted.The only thing was I wanted more from the ending, I liked it but I needed it to carry on.How about a novella Nina? Pleaaasee?

Excerpt
 She kicks off her shoes and pulls off her sweater, and I admire the curves of her body in her white tank top and tight jeans. Her tits are perfect, full but still perky, and right now her nipples are hard, poking right through the thin material of her tank. Her ass is round and tight. Her body has changed over the years, filling out in all the right places. My dick throbs thinking about the things I would do to her.
Now if this bitch would just go to the bedroom, I could get started. Her living room window faces the main street and she will scream. Her bedroom, on the other hand, is towards the back of the house and faces the backyard. Wrestling on a bed is much quieter than in a living room full of lamps and bookshelves filled with random bullshit. How many fucking knickknacks does one human being require? Is that a porcelain cat? Honestly, I’m putting her out of her misery. She should thank me.
Anyway, I want to take my time with her, so I need to wait just a little bit longer. Shit, I’ve already waited fourteen years.
I cannot believe this shit, she’s turning on her stereo.
What is this godforsaken tripe she’s listening to? Of course, fucking Backstreet Boys.
I can’t help but smile a little when she dances. She’s so carefree right now. She thinks she’s safe.
But she doesn’t understand that tonight is the night she dies.

My Review

2.5-3 Crazy Biker Stars!!

okay I think this is the first MC book I have read so I have nothing to compare it to so I have decided to check out a few more when i have the time.Anyone want to recommend some of their favs? I'm up for that.There was a lot of things I was like whaaat?! Most of them regarding the rules of the club.

It all starts off when you meet Harlow who is the Ravage MC’s “Princess”.She has been locked up for 2 years for a crime she didn't commit.She was framed and now that she is out she wants revenge.

“I may have a pussy, but I ain’t one. I’ve got bigger balls than most guys out there. Even though I’ll never be a member of the club, because it’s not possible, I always hold my head up high.."

When she comes back to the club to meet her family she has a run in with Cruz who she hasn't met before. He takes a liking to her,okay that's an understatement its basically instant love which I didn't really get.He hardly knew her i found that weird and then he decides to act like she is his and no one else can have her.Its like uhmm..does she even have a choice here?

"Princess" has a rule though, she doesn't sleep with brothers, no way does she want to be a club whore.Being around the club her whole life she has seen most of the guys do their worst and there has been a lot of cheating.She can't put up with that and cant risk the tension that would ensue if she was with a brother and things went bad.She wont share her man and will never be just a piece of meat any of the brother can take from.

Cruz doesn't chase after women, none have ever mattered to him.The ups and turns in his life have left him pretty alone but joining the club changed things.He fits in here and somehow he knows that Harlow fits into his life.he wont let her get away now he has to get her to see things his way, see how good they would be together.

“I stared at the smart, beautiful women before me. There were no words that could describe the way I felt about her. Love didn’t seem to be enough. Sole mate seemed to pussy-ish to say. But something. Some deeper connection was happening with us.”

I enjoyed the twists and some unexpected parts and I ended up reading this pretty quickly.Oh and have you seen the cover? Ahh love it!:D
I liked how Harlow was respected by all the guys in a way because of the way she was. They are all like family to her and they would do anything to protect her.

I'm all for badass heroines but I don't know why Harlow's inner dialogue just annoyed me at times. I think by the ending i kind of warmed up to her but I just felt something missing.I felt like things moved way too quickly with the relationship between Cruz and Princess to other aspects of the book.I didn't feel much of a connection between Cruz and Harlow which left me rather disappointed.

“Sugar, you just stirred up a shit storm.” The southern drawl to his voice mixed with the smell of leather, cigarettes, and radiating testosterone would have made my pussy clench, but he ruined that by pressing a damn gun to my head.
“Low, don’t.” I ignored Casey just as I always did. Quickly, I turned my body. As my arm reached back to knock the gun out of his hand, I instantly froze. The three patch rag falling on his chest was a red light flashing in my eyes. Immediately, I stopped, putting my hands in front of me. I would never touch a brother, outside of the ring that is.
The man standing in front of me caught my breath and short-circuited my senses. His broad shoulders were covered with a skin-tight, black t-shirt and leather rag adorned with several patches that fit him like a glove. His bulging arms were covered in tattoos from the wrist up. They were flexed, one pointed the gun with precision, and the other was fisted at his side. His light caramel hair was cut short on the sides, but longer on the top, begging for a woman’s fingers to run through it. His beard was cut very short to his skin making my mouth water, wondering what it would feel like between my thighs. His sapphire eyes narrowed at me as I stared effortlessly in them, becoming entranced unable to speak.
“What the fuck is going on here?” Breaking from this man’s stare, I focused on the familiar voice I’ve missed for too long. Pops eyes swept the room quickly, and when his eyes landed on mine, the anger in them instantly faded. “What the hell’s going on?” He eyed the man with the gun pointed directly at my head and he clenched his hands into fists.
“Hey, Pops,” I said, turning my eyes back to the beautiful specimen in front of me, wanting him to know that I wasn’t afraid. If I needed a bullet in my head, so be it. I wouldn’t shy away.
“You know this bitch?” the hot asshole in front of me clipped, and my lip curled slowly. If he wasn’t wearing that rag, I’d show him how much of a bitch I could be.
“Put the damn gun down, Cruz,” Pops said jokingly. The anger dripping off this man’s face in front of me told me he didn’t see anything funny about this. He began to take a step closer. “Cruz. Stop!” Pops barked loudly as the other guys started walking up behind him. Cruz instantly stopped, but kept the gun on me. “Cruz, this is my daughter, Princess.”
“Shit. Are you fucking kidding me?” Cruz’s anger was actually pretty funny, and I had to stifle the small laugh that wanted to escape. I had too much respect to let it fly. But the shocked look on his face was pretty priceless coming from a tattooed hot-ass. I probably should have told him that sooner, but what can I say … I was born a bitch.
“No, I’m not fucking kidding you. Get the fuck away from her, and put the goddamn gun down.” Moving my head to Pops, I could see he was fuming. Whenever Pops was mad, his forehead turned bright red, and the lines throughout it became more prominent along with the vein that ticked with this heartbeat. It’s a look I always hated growing up, and it used to scare the ever-loving shit out of me.
My eyes flicked back while Cruz took one more look at me. “If you’re still pissed later, we can meet in the ring.” I smiled my damnedest. I could see the smoke threatening to come out of his ears. Confusion laced his eyes, but I wasn’t about to explain right now. I held out my hand to Cruz, “Nice to meet ya. I’m Harlow.” He stared me down as if he was hoping he could make me combust into a million pieces. Sorry Buddy, your super powers won’t work. I’ve been here too long to let that get me.
He tentatively lowered the gun, putting it behind his back, bringing his hand to mine. My hand slipped into his warm, rough, strong grip, a shock raced through my body, beginning at my connected hand and racing all the way through to my feet setting my body on fire. “Cruz.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Review
“One day I might figure it out, the reason fate hated me, Isabelle West. But, until that day I damn sure will be careful with my dreams and my plans; my heart and my soul.”
Isabelle West has lost so much in life, will things change for her? Will she finally be happy? She is finally moving forward in life and is trying to get past all the horrendous things that happened to her..but there is only one problem her horrid past is linked to one person who wont allow her to be free..her ex husband.
When things take a turn for the worst and Isabelle doesn't feel secure in her own home, help is on its way! But never did she think, the person to help her would be someone who she thought was gone forever.Someone who was a big part of her past..
“I haven’t always been this weak person; this broken woman. I used to dream, and when I did, I dreamt big. I had plans, plans of a future so bright it would blind you. I can still remember the day those dreams, those grand plans, and that future as bright as the sun went poof.”
Axel got a call about someone called Isabelle who needed his help as her ex-husband been harassing her..Little did he know that he would be face to face with someone he could never forget. Axel has been angry at Isabelle for so long he doesn't know if he can just turn it off..
"The girl ripped my heart to fucking shreds and I never knew why. It would have been quicker if she had stuck around and shot me in the fucking chest. At least I would have died instantly, instead of bleeding out slowly for the last twelve years."
This is a story of misunderstandings, love, passion, heartache and much more..
“What are you thinking?” I ask him after a few minutes.
He looks up at me with his smile wide and his eyes bright. “How fucking lucky I am.”
Well Done Harper Sloan - You are awesome!! This was well written and It had me hooked ,I just couldn't put it down.A brilliant journey with Axel and Izzy through the heartache and sadness to the time where things start looking up! They overcome so much doom and gloom and deserved happiness.
“I can feel the sun warming my skin. I love this blissful state between sleep and just waking. But I no longer relish this moment for being numb, no…now I relish this moment because it reminds me I am alive"
I loved all the characters the guys were awesome! Greg bless him loved how he was all protective with Izzy. This book made me feel so many emotions!
It was funny,filled with love, heartache,lust and so much more!
In some parts of the book I just wanted Izzy to get a grip and tell Axel everything! I was screaming at her to just do it already..she listened and it was about time!!
"When you are with me I am free.
My strength. My everything.
Our love now continues forever.
Amor Vincit Omnia."
My Review
5 MIND BLOWING STARS!!
THAT.WAS.INTENSE!
“Mr Anthony Rawlings had a lesson to learn and Claire claimed the role as teacher.”
WARNING: This book may cause your body and mind to explode due to the numerous emotions you will feeling throughout the entire book! You may never be the same again :O
Bravo Aleatha Romig! Just when I thought you couldn't possibly outdo Consequences..you proved me wrong! I was blown away with this one it was better than the first book so now I have very high expectations for book 3!
Ahh so many twists and turns just when you think you have it all figured out..BOOM..a new turn in events and every theory of yours is turned on its head.
“In their figurative game of chess, Anthony Rawlings had Claire in check. Every move she made, he countered.”
A big part of reading this book was my change in heart..After reading the first book I vowed to hate Tony with everything in me! I really really really hated him!!! But then.. in this book..the new Tony won me over!I always thought ahh even if he does change i just wouldnt get over all the bad stuff he did..Oh how wrong i was! The more you learn about him and his family the more you start to understand him and understand why he did what he did.. Oh Tony you are amazing! :D I am now officially Team Tony!
Don't disappoint me!
“...His words were barely audible. That was all right; they weren’t intended for anyone except the woman who wasn’t there. “I’m so sorry... for everything... why? ... why did you leave me?” As the tears coated his cheeks he told himself, Anthony Rawlings doesn’t cry. He doesn’t apologize, and he doesn’t cry...”
I really liked how eventually all the sections come together the past and the present .I liked how Tony's character develops throughout the book how he opens up to Claire. And how Claire becomes a stronger person and stands up to him. Some characters pissed me off in this book. Aleatha Romig toying with our emotions again!
I am soooo glad this book doesnt end at a cliffhanger!!!!
I cant wait for CONVICTED!I need this book now!
My casting for Tony and Claire..
