Review: Degradation (The Kane Trilogy, #1) by Stylo Fantome

Synopsis
Eighteen year old Tatum O'Shea is a naive, shy, little rich girl. Twenty-three year old Jameson Kane is smart, seductive, and richer. They come together for one night, one explosion, one mistake, and Tate is hurled into space – no family, no money, and no Jameson.

Seven years later, life is going pretty good for Tate, when she runs into Jameson again. This time, she thinks she's ready for him. She doesn't have a naive bone left in her body, and she can't even remember what shy feels like. Jameson has evolved into Satan – sharp teeth, sharper claws, and a tongue that can cut her in half. It all sounds like fun to a girl like Tate, and she is ready to play, determined to prove that she isn't the same girl he conquered once before. A series of games start, each one more devious than the last.

But the devil likes to play dirty, and she learns that playing for souls is playing for keeps. The lines between games and reality, heaven and hell, get blurry. Can she beat Jameson at his own game before someone gets hurt? Or will he leave her soulless, making him the winner, once and for all?

My Review

4.5 Filthy Stars!!

A book buddy told me she was reading this and she send me an image of the cover.I love a good cover and I usually get a lot from it and I will admit sometimes I do judge a book by its cover (But not all the time and that's the main point right?) This cover in my opinion looked like it was a book released quite a while back and when I looked at it I thought it was to do with vampires..I think its the red? :D

But when I read the synopsis I bumped this up to the top of my list and as soon as I started it I could not stop. This was raw, dark gritty and everything I wasn't expecting! How can I have not known about Stylo Fantome and this awesome series?

“He was so good looking, it was probably illegal. She worried if she looked at him too long , she'd go blind.”

Tatum O'Shea was a rich girl until one mistake changed her whole life. Jameson Kane was that mistake she met when she was 18years old innocent and naive. He changed something in her or released her inner wild girl. After seven years they meet again and Jameson is richer than before yet still the arsehole from the past but Tatum is not the girl Jameson remembers her to be. She lost the innocence and now she is sexy, wild and he needs to have her. Not all of her, just her body.He wants her for sex and nothing more, he doesn't do more.

Jameson Kane is hot, seductive, closed off, at times mean. Mean being an understatement.Basically at times I wanted to punch him in the face but I still like him in a way because how can you not? Yeah that's the relationship we have.

“I want him to remember me. I want every woman after me to be compared, and found lacking.”

Tate is care-free, fun, wild but some of the things that turn her on would totally turn me off but hey to each their own eh? Some of the things she did made it hard for me to not judge her but as I continued reading I did end up liking her and her attitude and personality, I guess she grew on me.

I loved the scenes when they were playing around with each other, some of the comments were hilarious and I wanted more.I felt like at times Jameson was really hurtful with what he said to her and how he treated her which is part of the reason I haven't given this book full 5 stars. At times I really disliked him and wanted to shout at him. Dude you are being so mean!!

“Oh, and Tate, you forgot these,” he said, digging in his pocket. He pulled her panties out and tossed them onto the floor. “You always seem to be dropping these around me.”

Mother fucker."

And then we get a bloody cliffhanger that made me so mad and desperate to start book 2! I would definitely recommend this book and I can't wait to see how this series continues. This is in third person and even though I usually stick to first person this was well written and I really enjoyed it.

Oh and last but never least my favourite character is Sanders who is Jameson's assistant. I bloody loved him. He needs his own book ASAP.I wanted to reach into the book and give him a massive hug and never let him go.Because he rocks ;)

My Review
3 Stars!!

This is book 1 in the Chicago Angels Series by G.K.Moore and consists of a cliffhanger which will either make you want to beg the author for the next book or bang your head against a wall. This is G.K.Moore's debut novel and I think she did a good job in reeling the reader in and wanting to read on to see how things will work out.

I love mafia romance so when I was offered an arc of this one I jumped at the chance.I didn't know how it would go and didn't read any reviews before reading it since. There were parts that I enjoyed and parts I didn't which is normal with every book I guess. I really liked the fact that the book starts off with a bang since I love fast paced beginnings, something that draws you in and leaves you in the center of chaos.

We meet Olivia who has ended up in a messy situation and in need of help she turns to Alessandro who she has been trying to stay away from. At the start when they meet there is chemistry but other than that I felt like Alessandro was indifferent towards Olivia.Their relationship isn't clear until a later when there is a flashback which shows how they know each other and what happened in the past that still binds them together.

I think they both make some stupid decisions which in the end leads to a bigger mess that may ruin them forever. This book has dual POVs which was absolutely necessary for this book since they lacked good communication skills.I just wanted to scream and tell them to bloody tell each other everything! Stop avoiding it. But did they listen to me? The answer is no.

Olivia needs to quit running and get everything out into the open. What happened in the past still haunts her. She had a rough childhood and my heart went out to the little Lulu and I loved the young Alessandro. What the hell happened, that's what I want to know.Hated Silvio urgh and I hope Olivia doesn't follow in her mothers footsteps.

'There should have been an explosion, a crash or a piercing scream. How could my heart have been completely destroyed in deathly silence?'

The ending..*Deep breath* NO I am not liking Alessandro right now and he better get his shit together in the next book..or else!

5 I-LOVE-THIS-SERIES Stars

Okay when I heard that The Remedy would be the end of the Devil's Eyes series I was quite upset..quite upset being an understatement.I didn't want the series to finish and I will always want more.ALWAYS! But then Jennifer Loren announced that there would be more to this series and I was like WHAT?! Hell yeah!Oh btw I get this news way before everyone else..not that I'm bragging or anything.Just putting it out there ;) I love being in JL's street team! So whilst I was screaming and doing a happy dance JL was writing away another master piece. This book was awesome, I need more..like yesterday woman!

This book kind of breaks off from Nick and his side of things. He is still in the book but its main focus is Ryan and Elijah.I love how other people's povs are cleverly placed which gave me a better idea of what is going on yet, the povs, they don't overwhelm you.

Ryan has always lived in Nick's shadows, he loves him and looks up to him but he needs to move on and pave his own path. So even though moving away from the family is tough he decides its time to take over a new place and be his own boss.Make his own rules. And to help out he has Elijah and an unexpected bodyguard, Skylar.

"My Lord," She says, bowing to me.

"Oh son of a bitch," I grumble

Skylar is a women out to prove herself.By guarding Ryan she wants to show that women aren't weak and they can handle the tough life. Before she gets to where Ryan is now living she thinks she has it all figured out, she thinks Ryan has been spoiled and rich all his life and he will behave just like all other Savages. But when she gets there she finds out how wrong she is.There is alot more to Skylar we discover as the story continues..

'I can't stop staring at his penis and it begins to make him nervous.

"Baby, are you planning to cut me dick off or something, cause you are making me really nervous staring at it like you are?"

Ryan doesn't need anyone to protect him especially not a hot, annoying woman he can't keep his eyes off.I loved Ryan and Skylar's parts maybe a littllleeeeee bit more than Eli and Catriona's parts. They were hilarious together and well that's Ryan ahh I fell more in love with him! Maybe its because we already had the Eli and Cat thing going on in previous book so this was something new and I just wanted to keep reading their parts.

“Hmm… should I follow alongside or get in with you?” “Follow alongside? Who are you, Usain Bolt? Get in the damn car.” She nods..

Elijah and Catriona have their own problems along with helping Ryan out.Eli is determined to love Catriona and give her everything she wishes for but things aren't that easy. His humour was as always present and I loved that about him.

"Actually, the best part was when we stopped running and Eli asked me to hold his boob while he pulled up his stockings."

Hahaha I loved this part of the book and their funny stories. Could not contain my laughter.

We meet new people, lose some old people, discover new secret, betrayals and twists! I laughed out loud..whilst everyone sleeping I'm sure if everyone was awake they would be like, what a weirdo but they weren't so hah!Highly recommended series sooo go get started on the previous books if you haven't already ;)

Omg the ending!!!! I was like YES YES!!!!!! HELL YEAH.I wanted to scream because I had so much feelings and I wanted to discuss..but my friends haven't even read it yet so i just hi5'd myself and tried keep my emotions in lock. The sad truth. I want more. When can I get more?

Oh and I won a paperback so it shall be hugged and it will sleep with me.There may even be stroking ;)

Excerpt

My fist slammed into the heavy leather bag, the impact jolting up my arm and absorbing into my torso.
The only light was from the back row of fluorescents I’d switched on over the ring. It was dark, murky and helped me pretend I was someplace else. The drama from the daylight hours was gone and it was just me and the darkness. Exactly the way I liked it.
I began another set of punches, hair sticking to the sweat beading across the back of my neck. Structure. This was the only thing that was predictable in my life and I needed predictable.
Stance. Guard. Punch. Guard. Repeat.
There was a loud cough behind me and I spun on my heel, heart thumping in my chest, and my gaze collided with Ash’s.
“Fuck,” I exclaimed, holding a hand over my heart. “Don’t fucking do that, Ash.” Typical. The creeper was being all creeper again.
“What are you doing?” He stared at me, his gaze hovering a little too long on my bare midriff.
I steadied the bag with one hand, taking deep breaths. “What does it look like?”
“I’ve never seen…” He trailed off and I wondered if I’d finally made the Golden Boy lost for words.
I turned my back so I didn’t have to look at him. “What? A woman in a sports bra? Highly doubt it.” I rolled my eyes and wiped my forehead with the back of my arm. Even though I couldn’t see, I felt his gaze burning into my skin and I suppressed the urge to squeeze my thighs together. Infuriating, self-absorbed, arrogant…

My Review
3 Fighter Stars!

Beat is book 1 in 'The Beat and The Pulse' Series By Amity Cross. This is the first book I have read by this and oh look at that cover ;) I think that's the first thing that caught my attention!

'I will beat your ass until you beg for mercy.

Repent or die.'

I really don't know how to rate this one, I'm just so confused so I will lay it all out for you.I hadn't read a fighter book in a while..last one was probably 'Remy' so when I checked out the synopsis I was intrigued and thought why not?
Let me tell you this book was totally different to other fighter books I have read and really didn't go the way I was expecting it to. This book was hot, dark and different.

Renee "Ren" Miller has had a tough life since her father left her with her mother who ended up having cancer and in the end dying which leads her to finding her father since it was her mothers last wish. She finds out he owns a gym called Beat. And from here starts her new life where she finds solace in training and making full use of the equipment.

Then in comes 'Ash' the golden boy who threw it all away or had everything taken from him. Hot, intense, angry and secretive and an arsehole. Everything Ren should avoid yet he seems to be all she can think about. And she isn't the only one feeling that way. Ash knows getting close to Ren will end up in destruction, he will ruin her and no matter how much he tries to stay away he is drawn to her. And somehow she becomes his light in all the darkness.

'He was the moon to my sun.He was the earth to my sky.Poetic bullshit, but how could you put a label on it?'

Both Ren and Ash have a lot of anger that they have kept inside and it has created a darkness within them.Sometimes it all gets too much and they snap and destroy everything around them and the only way they seem to let it out is through fighting.Letting go of the anger in a ring bound by no rules.

But what happens when everyone is trying to rip them apart? When people are trying to destroy Ash find their next victim..Ren

This book is in first person pov and both Ren and Ash's POV though there is more chapters in Ren's POV. We still get an insight into both characters but there is much more to be revealed about Ash which hopefully will be revealed in the next book.
I wasn't expecting that ending! :O
Cliffhanger!

Ahhhhh I wasn't expecting a lot of things that happened in this book yet I felt like something was missing or maybe is was because it was that time of month and I was being hormonal and picky and couldn't concentrate? Damn is it just me who has to be in the right mood to read something dark or less uhmmm lovey dovey? I totally wasn't in that kind of mood since my moods were all over the place, so yeah I can't even tell you what bloody mood I was in.This review is going so well.. Hah!

All I can say was that I liked it just didn't love it and don't ever totally disregard a book due to my reviews because we are all different anndddd you may end up loving it! ;)

Blog Tour/Excerpt/Review/Giveaway: For Fallon (Chicago Syndicate #1) by Soraya Naomi

Blurb

We all have a façade, a concealed mask we wear to portray ourselves to the world.

Fallon’s mask is real, what you see is what you get. Growing up with two loving parents in Chicago, graduating in Chicago, and now working a job she loves, she enjoys her life.

Her untarnished world is shaken when Luca crosses her path.

Luca’s mask is tightly controlled. Distrust, rivalry, and violence rule his life.

When confronted with insecurities, when the one you love wears his mask perfectly, when your life unravels and you don’t know why, do you keep trusting the person you love?

Everyone has a façade. Everyone has an ulterior motive.

Excerpt

His gaze is piercing through me. He tilts his head and arcs one brow in silent question, Need any help?
I almost imperceptibly nod my head.
Mystery man speaks to his company, who’s leaning with his back against the bar. The other guy whips his head around to look at me and is obviously not agreeing with his friend’s intention to intervene. He disregards his friend’s comment and comes over to Nick and me. He walks right up to us to place a secure arm around my waist, tucking me gently into his side and turning slightly, so I’m engulfed in his one arm embrace. His breath strokes over my temple while he speaks. “I’m taking her for a dance.” His deep, throaty voice which exudes sensuality fits him perfectly in his tailored suit. The guy glowers at Nick, daring Nick to defy him. His intimidating stance has Nick backing off instantly, and he leads us both away with his arm firmly holding my middle.
I don’t even look back at Nick. My eyes are glued to this man. My mouth quirks up in a smile as he shows me an enthralling sidelong grin.

When I’m about to ask his name, he halts. “You’re welcome,” he whispers the words against my ear. And again, he strolls away.

 My Review
3.5- 4 Deceptive Stars!

For Fallon is book 1 in the Chicago Syndicate series and Soraya Naomi's debut novel. After reading and loving Soraya's reviews I was surprised and excited when she announced that she would be releasing a book.I loved the way she wrote her reviews and was anxious to read what she would write.I love mafia romances and have read a lot and I'm always looking for something new and I really enjoy great twists in the story and a book that makes me wasn't to keep reading and never stop. If you enjoy love stories that arent all lovey dovey, which have a mix of deception, lies, murder, twists and much more this is a book for you.

“Love must not suffocate, but breathe on its own.”

Fallon lives with her best friend and works for a charity as a copyeditor.Oh and the best part..She loves to read and tea! Helloo my fav things book and tea!! Anyways back to the story..Fallon and Luca meet at a club.Fallon can't take her eyes off of him and it seems like it's the same for Luca.Or is it?

After their first meeting they seem to keep bumping into each other and so begins the start of their steady relationship. Its a slow buildup and you get to know the characters and how the relationship develops. It was a little slow for me and took me a while to read it.The second half of the book picks up and I found it a lot better and I kept turning pages and couldn't stop reading until I hit the end. Thanks Soraya! That cliffhanger though :O I did not expect that ending and now I want more!

I love dual POVs when they are done right and this was so done right! I liked that we had both the POVs as it helped explain alot of things. Second half or parts of the second half Fallon annoyed me. I know that in that situation you aren't thinking rationally and you do stupid stuff and that she didn't know what was going on in Luca's head so she couldn't know what I knew but omg she should have known. This is not making sense or maybe it is?

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and any other books Soraya writes ;)

Excerpt:

“I’m sorry,” Shadus’ voice says.

My eyes slide over – Shadus is standing right next to me, leaning on the bookshelf. I close my eyes and sigh.

“Don’t be. It’s me. Something’s wrong with me. I don’t know how to react like a normal person. Jeers, whispers, sneers, those are fine. I ignore them, punch something to make them hurt less. Compliments? I don’t know what to do with those.”

“You’re different. That’s not necessarily bad,” He offers. His long fingers skim over a row of books and he picks one out, flipping through the pages. “More literature in which the protagonist kisses his interest. Is it all your human writers are interested in? It hardly seems worthy enough to devote entire books to.”

“It’s not so bad,” I defend. “Kissing.”

“You speak from experience?” He asks.

“Second grade during the school play. Arnold Grady. We were backstage, behind the curtain. I thought it was a good time to go for it.”

“It was enjoyable, then?”

“Too wet.” I laugh, the memory burning like an old tattoo of embarrassment. “He was shorter than me - all the boys were. They’ve only started catching up this year, really.”

“I’m jealous.”

I raise an eyebrow. “What? Of the short boys?”

“Of your kiss. You speak of it fondly. Even if it was lacking technique, you still remember it. It must have been an important experience. I assume I will never know that sort of feeling - ”

I step into him. He jolts back, hitting the bookshelf. It shakes, and settles. I point up at him.

“Be thankful. You guys have the ceremony of flame. You don’t waste time with petty shit and he-likes-her-she-likes-him crap. Your future is arranged by your family. But us? Humans? We fish around blindly in a pool of seven billion people, hoping one of them isn’t too crazy or too incompatible with us, and we get so desperate that when we find someone we can stand for two minutes we decide to marry them for life, when in reality they’re all wrong for us. But we keep pretending they’re right, until we can’t anymore, and then we divorce them or break up and we get up and try again, and again, and it chips away at our tiny human hearts.”

He stares at me intently, as if I’m lecturing him and he’s trying his hardest to learn something from it. I snort.

“You’re lucky, Creeps. All you Gutters are lucky.”

“What you call ‘lucky’, I call ‘boring’,” Shadus says. “The human way of things may be more painful, but it sounds much more fun.”

I stride up to him, get in his face. His chest is rising and falling, his fists balled up. His ruby eyes stare down at me.

“Don’t do it,” He murmurs.

“Do what?”  I singsong.

He struggles with something inside himself, a pained look coming over his expression.

“Victoria -”

I press my head into the cradle where his neck meets his shoulder.

My Review

4.5 I-love-Aliens Stars!!

Okay I have read a few alien books and loved them so I totally went in ready for this one.I absolutely loved the lovely vicious series by Sara Wolf (Book 3 I am waiting for you!) and I will be reading everything this awesome woman writes. I was captivated by just the synopsis and was super excited when I got an arc.

'But they’re more than just mates. They’re extra limbs, extensions of each other and at the same time, mirror reflections. Two faces of one coin and all that. Even when they’re far away, they’re always with each other. That is how deep their bond is.'

Aliens aka Gutters have landed on earth. They have been living here for 11 years now and the government have now decided to create a school where Gutters and Humans can live and take the same classes. You are each set up with a partner who will be your mentor of sorts. This school is set up help gutters and humans with understanding that they should live together in peace and not violence. To give humans a better understanding of Gutters and vice versa. There is also the part where those who sign up become an EVE(Emotion Vesicle Engraft) these are people- and one of few humans who are genetically capable of producing emotions for the Gutters to feed on.Those who volunteer get a largo sum of money and thats the only reason Vic is there.

Victoria Hale aka Vic has just signed up to become and EVE. She doesn't care for the Gutters, not even a little bit.She is here for the money and not to make friends. After her mother was killed during a protest against Gutters she hates them, she blames them. All she needs to do is go to school and live with them peacefully to make sure she gets the money she needs. Simple right?

Wrong!

She is partnered up with Shadus. He is just a ray of sunshine! LOL

Brown eyes. I do a double take.

They aren’t quite brown, more like rust. The irises streak with red, like the color of blood. They belong to a male Gutter. His eyes are shadowed by thick lashes and long bangs, his hair unkempt and messy. He’s slouched, elbows on the table behind him. His body is lean, like he doesn’t eat properly. His cheekbones are razor sharp and his shoulders are broad, his expression completely bored on his olive skin.

Oh Shadus.I love you! I need an alien.Anyone out there? Get in contact asap ;)

I loved Shadus and Vic's banter, they were hilarious! I really wanted more scenes with just them too, I NEED more Shadus and Vic scenes! Both of them are stubborn and feel something for the another they just don't want to accept it, oh there were funny awkward moments and then everything got crazy.

“It sounds like Creeps. Crepes. Creeps,” He tries experimentally.

There’s a silence.

“That was my attempt at human humor.”

That ending! Sara Wolf why you gotto torture me like that? why! Every book of yours I read you have to kill me with the cliffhanger endings.I can't wait much longer woman! :P Can't wait to find out what will happen next and how Shadus and Vic's relationship develops..please please be more Shadus and Vic scenes! The writing had me hooked from the start and I didn't want this book to end.

He walks right up to us to place a secure arm around my waist, tucking me gently into his side and turning slightly, so I’m immersed in his one-arm embrace.
I don’t even look back. My eyes are glued to this man. My mouth quirks up in a smile as he shows me an enthralling sidelong grin.
Just as I’m about to ask his name, he halts. “You’re welcome,” he whispers the words against my ear. And again, he strolls away.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Soraya Naomi resides in Europe with her entrepreneur fiancé. She attended university in The Netherlands.

Although she reads many genres, she favors intense, dark, seductive, and provocative novels where the male character loves fiercely without remorse or boundaries.

She has a passionate obsession for the written word and indulges in chocolate pastries much too often.

There are books full of great writing that don't have very good stories. Read sometimes for the story... don't be like the book-snobs who won't do that.

Read sometimes for the words--the language. Don't be like the play-it-safers who won't do that. But when you find a book that has both a good story and good words, treasure that book.
