Review: Elite (Eagle Elite, #1) by Rachel Van Dyken

Synopsis
When I won the annual Eagle Elite College Scholarship lottery, I was thrilled. After all, my grandma had just died and I wanted to take care of my aging grandpa -- he couldn't be a farmer in Wyoming forever. And graduating from Eagle Elite meant opportunity.

But I wasn't counting on meeting Nixon.

Nor was I counting on the rules of the Elect.

1. Do not touch The Elect.
2. Do not look at The Elect.
3. Do not speak to The Elect.

And worst of all? Don't discover the secret they hide, because in the end, you may just realize... it's about you.

*This is a New Adult Book, blood, violence, cursing, sexual references, and drug use. Not recommended for those under 17.*

My Review
4 Elite Stars!!

Okay I am kicking myself for not reading this sooner! A friend of mine had been telling me to read it for a while and I blew it off, just not really giving it much thought and then I realised that I requested this book from NetGalley ages ago and never got round to it. I decided to finally put me foot down and get reading. I remember starting a few pages but I was in a book funk and gave up to try again at a later time. Right now I have my reading mojo back and I was totally ready for it. I actually really enjoyed it and will definitely be reading on.

This is book 1 of Eagle Elite series and its got the whole mafia/criminal family thing going on which I had no idea about. My preconceived idea of this book was that it was some sort of spy/agent book? A school to train people in powers? Okay I can feel you all thinking what the hell? ..I don't even know what to say *shrugs* I guess I should stop assuming things.

"Maybe the world isn't as shiny and fun as you once thought. People are mean. Humanity is a cruel joke, Trace. I'm just trying to prevent them from getting the last laugh."

So the book, lets get back to the book. Trace is starting Eagle Elite College which is basically a college for the rich kids or those that will make the next presidents and so on. Trace is nothing like these people and the only reason she is here is because she won some sort of lottery that the college holds so one lucky winner gets to attend the college with all the rich people and so on.Trace is so out of her depth and it only gets worse when she meets Nixon and his crew who basically own the school and create all the rules. From then on things don't exactly go smoothly.

“—Nope. You’ve already broken a rule. I’m speaking, New Girl.” Chase smirked. “Geez, Nixon, this one’s going to be hard to break in.”
“They always are,” Nixon replied, lifting my chin with his hand. “But I think I’ll enjoy this one.”

Nixon, oh Nixon at the start I was like what the hell? Why are you so mean! But with all assholes you end up loving them in the end. Well actually is went more like me hating him to liking him to feeling lost and losing interest in him and just not knowing how I feel. I liked him as a bad boy or more of the guy in charge. On another note I got this feeling of a love triangle which I thought or was hoping didn't exist but now I'm a little miffed and seriously don't want the next book to be a full n love triangle because they usually really irritate me and someone always gets hurt and i start hating the girl for loving two men. Like please woman, stop being greedy!

Okay I'm going to quit ranting and get onto book 2, lets hope all goes well and it only gets better since I have heard a lot of people love this series. I want to be one of those people! ;)

My Review

3.5- 4 Sweet, Soul mate Stars!

At seven years old Anna loses her parent, in this time of sadness she finds a special friend who gets rid of her loneliness. The only thing is that she is the only one who can see him.As Adam and Anna grow older their feelings for each other grow and the longing to touch each other has Anna searching for answers.

Okay I went into this one blind because I absolutely loved the authors other two book I read so I had to read this one and see how it went.Going in without a clue to what the book is about has its advantages and disadvantages because well at first I was confused! I went into it thinking it would be something like marked series I don't know why! But yeah it totally wasn't like that. So I started reading this and was like..wait a minute I am so confused right now! What is going on? :O Is this a paranormal romance? whaaaaat?

Later on in the book it all came together and I was like oh phew things will be all better now and then I wanted to slap myself for speaking (thinking) too soon! But yeah in the end its all happily ever after ;)

This is a quick, cute read and after finishing it I thought wait there is more right? Because I wanted more! The only thing I had a problem with was the age of the characters, I just prefer older characters and don't usually read many YA/NA books but that's just me!

"Annie meant more to me than a friend, or even a lover. It went deeper than that."

This book is alot different from her other books, I really enjoyed the twist and how everything came together. J.M.Sevilla you are an awesome author and I can not wait to read more of your books! Get writing woman ;)

Review: Fierce By Clarissa Wild

Synopsis

Nerdy girl Autumn Blakewood is the prime example of a goody two-shoes. She studies every night, is never late for class, and always follows the rules. She has never felt the need to step out of her comfort zone. That is, until she meets Hunter.

Hunter Bane is a cocky, confident bad-boy, who's nothing but trouble. He’s a dangerous distraction to everyone around him. Sexy and strong, Hunter enjoys the swooning effect he has on women. Especially those who aren't used to attention, like Autumn.

What she doesn't know is that Hunter has more baggage than anyone should have to carry. When she discovers he's in an illegal frat club to save the one person that matters to him, Autumn realizes this could mean the end of her undeniable connection to him. Even their lives are at risk.
But it's too late to turn back now..

My Review
2 Meh-It just-didn't-do-it-for-me!

I really wanted this to be good, it sounded good and well look at the damn cover!! I love the cover but this book was a disappointment. It was like I was reading it but I wasn't hooked in, I was merely skim reading, which i hate and rarely do.In this case it seemed to be the only way I could get through this book. You know when you read and its a great book and you don't want it to finish so you are trying to go slow but you love it so much that you need to read on? Yeah it wasn't like that, I just wanted it to finish!

“You shouldn't care so much about what others think," he says. "What you think is what matters."

It all starts of when Autumn Blakewood starts college with an embarrassing incident which causes her hair to be covered in leaves along with that she meets Hunter.Autumn Blakewood is geeky, awkward and loyal friend whilst Hunter is cocky, confident and looks dangerous. Hunter's nickname for her becomes Leafy and soon they begin chatting since they are in the same class.

Hunter has a lot going on and none of it is good stuff, he is involved with some dodgy guys and things seem to be getting worse day by day.Autumn decides to get involved and find out what is going on with Hunter so she can stop him or help him.Lets just say Autumn should have minded her own business, I didn't exactly love her she annoyed me at times and I found her really immature.

I did like Hunter, even though at times he could be a right arsehole but hey that's just him.He was a good guy involved in a messed up situation.I just didn't feel connected with these characters, or the story. It was slow and needed a lot more to it, for the book to actually pull me in.

Blog Tour/Review/Giveaway: London Falling by T.A. Foster

Synopsis
It’s London’s senior year and she only needs one class to graduate. She just didn’t expect her final assignment: fall in love.
Communication 224 has a reputation for giving out the most unique projects of the semester. When London James and Beau Anderson signed up for the class they had no idea they would be paired up together, much less spend an entire semester working on their final grade.
Professor Garcia tasks them to produce a study on the hit reality show, Love Match, a show about strangers falling in love on over the top dates. London and Beau decide to debunk the popular show’s fantasy portrayal of romance. Determined they can date the entire semester and not fall for each other, the classmates share blogs about their dates and start a website where everyone can follow their dating experiment. Resisting their growing attraction for one another is harder than they thought.
London is in for the toughest class of her college career. The headstrong and success-driven student discovers there might be more important things in life than an A.

My Review
3 STARS!
London Falling is based around a Uni project in communications and social media class. Each person was assigned a partner and each pair would be given a different reality show, the students need to use different communication theories that they had learnt in class and put them into play whilst building up their project. You had to somehow rebuild or create similar situations that are shown in the reality show you have been given and then answer the question..How real are reality shows?

'You can't find love if your heart doesn't want to walk the journey.'

London is dreading this class and the strange projects, this is her last class she needs to complete and get an A on so she can pursue her acting dream. She loves drama, acting is her passion and she is totally at home on stage. It's all she can focus on but things start to change when she starts this project with Beau.

Beau is a fun-loving, make-the-most-of-any-situation kind of guy with a hint of bad boy.He is different, a care-free blogger with a mission to complete his senior "bucket list".His blog posts are read by many students and he is somewhat popular with all his connections and getting people to help him out in situations.

London wants to move away after graduation and Beau has his own path he wants to follow. So what will happen when their project is based around a dating show and they have to go out on dates? Is falling in love so simple or will they just end up broken hearted when it all ends?

Reading the synopsis and seeing the ratings,I thought this would be a great read.I liked how this book was different, it really had potential but I felt like a lot of things were missing. And I didn't feel any sort of connection with the characters. There weren't any big moments, twists or something that grasps the reader.

I hated how London was so focused on her acting career and her future and I just wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up, open your eyes and see what is right in-front of you! I wanted to know more about Beau, more about his background I wish they had connected on a deeper level. This wasn't a brilliant book in my opinion but it was okay and there were parts which I found fun and enjoyable.
